still in a holding pattern for fred

i had a non-stress test on friday and they wanted to check my amniotic fluid levels since we were overdue. there was a concern that maybe my water had broken so my doctor wanted me to head to triage to get checked out. after about 2 hours of being hooked up to a fetal monitor (where the baby looked great, heartbeat continues to be strong & healthy), they determined that i was not in labor or anywhere close to being in labor so they sent us home.

we got more details on the inducement: they call us tuesday afternoon to confirm they have room for us to come in (which may be an issue with the full moon tonight – they seem to deliver more babies right after full moons). if they do have room for us, we go in at 7p tuesday and they start something that will hopefully get me to start dilating (they do that at night because it’s best for me to try to rest & sleep while that stuff is working). i guess then they start the actual induction on wednesday. the nurse warned us to be prepared to be there a few days during the induction, that labor/delivery doesn’t always happen right away. i have my bag packed with a book of sudoku puzzles and some good magazines and hope to have internet access from the hospital bed.

sooo…other than all this waiting and hoping and waiting, i’m doing ok and trying to rest. i usually start the day out doing well, but by nighttime i am grumpy & pi$$ed off that another day has gone by with no baby. i guess this is the payback for our healthy pregnancy ~ not everything can go perfectly. let’s just hope this is a bump in the road and the good vibes will pick up again when (if?) we get to the hospital.
