Oh man. I am a bad blogger. Today was the first day in, um, forever I think, that I got ZERO hits on my blog. We have to fix that.
And since I already typed this out once today in an IM, I am just going to cut & paste here. This was my Wednesday night. Enjoy.
rick was supposed to bring cooper to my dad’s for the day
i was supposed to watch emily’s kids from 5.30-7.30 (overlap between her work & michael’s sked)
so M & i were going to spend the in between time w/ rick at his work
so i called my BIL (brother-in-law) & asked him to let cooper out at my dad’s if he didn’t at lunch when he let my dad’s dog out
he called back and said “unless i’m an idiot, cooper isn’t at your dad’s”
so i called rick (who was on the golf cart with mallory driving back from the stadium to schembechler…i was already in the schem lot) and asked him and he said “OH F&CK”
it was 4.30p
rb had left home at 7a
we were pushing the envelope of how long he could be left at home
and i didn’t have time to go home and get back to my sister’s b4 mike had to go to work
so i grabbed M from rick, didn’t say goodbye and drove like hell to my sister’s
put M’s carseat in the back of her minivan
got her two youngest in the car
and drove like hell home luckily there was no explosion
turns out when i was waiting for RB at Schem, i got word that the carpet people could do our house right then so it worked out that i was going home, even though i wouldn’t have gone home just for that
so anyway – get home, cooper hadn’t exploded, the carpets get cleaned
pack cooper up with us to come back to my sister’s
and the kids are running around all wanting to go up the slide
and i was too tired and my stomach hurt too much to chaperone
so i just sat in the shade and hoped no one got hurt
and emily’s 4.5 mo old lab puppy was barking inside so i let him out to run w/ cooper
and then he found a “trench” that shane was digging earlier and was filled w/ water
and he got all muddy and then he came and jumped on me
my dad showed up with pizza for dinner so we all went in to eat and we had to put Obi away b/c he & cooper were being a$$holes
and Obi kept barking and whining
and emily’s middle wouldn’t stop talking about whatever so she went to go outside to play and next thing you know we didn’t know where cooper was
we asked lauren and she kept saying “at (*&HKJDLF’s house”
we had no idea what she was talking about but finally shane says “oh, the (*&HKJDLF’s are our neighbors
great
so i go outside and have to scream for the dog who finally comes running from the neighbors house
and then we let obi out of his cage b/c we were done eating
my dad was leaving so i told everyone “downstairs we are watching a movie”
shane got on the computer, lauren was upstairs doing something, mallory was playing nicely, and liam was throwing a tennis ball for cooper
then i realize i don’t know where the puppy is
and i’m freaking out that he snuck out when my dad left
so we are outside freaking out calling for him
and then i hear rustling upstairs by the dining room
little $hit had grabbed a 100-calorie pack off the counter and was eating it
and then my sister got home
I swear to you that I do not make these stories up. They are true and no names have been changed to protect the innocent (or guilty).

Other than that Mallory & I have been surviving football camp. We end up having dinner earlier than we used to and that means earlier bath & bed time for Mallory. Tonight she was in her crib at 6.15p and she didn’t protest at all. Can you say “heaven on the couch for me”? She probably needs more sleep that she usually gets anyway so I don’t think it’s a bad thing that she went down so early. Plus, when I have to turn lights on to wake her up in the morning, I feel badly that I didn’t put her down earlier the night before, ya know? But I seriously don’t know what to do with myself – I’m thinking a big piece of the rhubarb-whatchamcallit thing that Mary made me & my neighbor.
Oh, that’s a good story. Our neighbor John only lives here in the summer. In the winter he is off on adventures in Florida or Texas. But he is fun to have around in the summer and Mallory is so funny with him. Everyday when we get home from school she goes next door and knocks on his door to say hi. She is usually heading back to our house by the time he comes to the door but it’s still pretty cute. Anyway, John has rhubarb growing in his backyard and last summer or the summer before he gave some to me because I said I liked rhubarb. I tried to make a rhubarb pie but it ended up rhubarb soup (note to self – do not use the food processor to chop up rhubarb…). I mentioned this to Mary, a lady who works with Rick and lives across the lake from us, and she said she loves rhubarb so the next batch my neighbor gave me, I passed it on to Mary. Well, she showed up on my doorstep the next week with a rhubarb pie! I split it with John; we were pretty proud of ourselves. He just grew the rhubarb, I just delivered the rhubarb, and *poof!!* we got ourselves a delicious pie!!
That scenario has repeated itself a few times this summer too – and this time Mary made a rhubarb-something with a meringue topping and some yummy stuff mixed in with the rhubarb. It is fabulous and probably not fat-free but who cares. John only wanted a third of it this time so I have more work to do to clean the pan for Mary. ;-)

Well, Mallory has been asleep for almost two hours now and I’ve done nothing but sit on the couch. Not a totally bad deal for me after my night last night but I should probably put some laundry away or do something else productive.
