we got the green light from the pediatrician to start MC on rice cereal. i think it had more to do with spending the one-on-one time with her and less to do with her being “ready”. the pediatrician made some comments about both rick & i working and doing whatever we can to make sure that dinner time is special, etc. either way, i was excited to get started!
i had mallory take a little nap after her appointment which she was happy to do once i gave her a little tylenol (she got 3 shots again at this appointment) so that she would be rested & happy when rick got home ~ i needed him to man the camcorder and regular camera to get this event on film :-)
i gave mallory her own spoon so she wouldn’t try to grab the one that had food on it and she enjoyed banging that on her highchair tray. she was somewhat interested in the food we were giving her and was very intrigued by the spoon going in her mouth. i don’t know how much “food” she actually took in though since there was a fair amount dribbling down her bib but by the end of it she was sort of opening her mouth in anticipation of the spoon, it was so funny!

fast forward 5 days…
tonight was night 5 of cereal for dinner…check out how quickly she has learned what to do when it’s time to eat!! she opens her mouth SOOOOO big when she saw that spoon coming….i was cracking up!!
ps – we got the cereal green light at mallory’s 4-month appt. she is 13 lbs and 24.5 inches!
wow that looks like so much fun! we are going to start at 6 months with jack and i am excited to get the highchair set up and buy some spoons/bowls etc. he still won’t take a bottle (well we haven’t tried very hard) so i am looking forward to trying to introduce a sippy cup! they are growing so fast, in the moms room at church yesterday there was a 3 week old and i was like WOW! i can’t believe jack was ever that tiny! i’m ready for another one!!!!
