Buddha Baby

We tried a new “first” with Mallory tonight – instead of giving her a bath lying down on a mat in the tub, we inflated the little tub thing that fits inside the regular tub and let her sit up in that. It allowed her to reach for her toys and even though she was sort of leaning against the sides of the blow-up tub, she was doing a decent job keeping her balance. But oh boy, seeing her sit there with a bare tummy – that girl has a belly on her!

She turned five months old last Friday and is showing us new tricks every day. She can actually scoot in her exersaucer now (even though only one foot is actually touching) and can sit up unsupported for about 3 seconds. But her favorite thing is standing and I’ve heard from more than one person that their child liked to stand early and they started walking super early. Uh oh – momma doesn’t like that too much. I think one of our next weekend projects will be putting locks on the cabinet doors and moving detergents, etc from the floor of the laundry room.

My sister is still on baby-watch – less than two weeks until her due date! There goes our babysitter for a while…

  1. wow – standing?? like as in, putting all her weight on her legs while you hold her torso – or standing un-assisted? jack “stands” all the time, in fact he hates bending his legs – we call him “stiff baby” all the time, but he can’t stand once we let him go – he too can sit for about 2-3 seconds but he leans forward and kinda folds over….that bath tub thing looks FUN! we are laying on the mat at this point!!!
