life lesson from a 6 year old

my nephew is unbelievable. i told him today that i don’t want him to get any bigger because if he gets older, i get older.

his wise response? “well, that’s just how life is.”

are you KIDDING me??!?!?!

in other news, we have had a few days of teaser spring weather. they have been forecasting rain for days and days and it hasn’t really shown up as they’ve been threatening. today mallory & i stopped by the Michigan softball game for a bit (rick had some showing off to do…) and then we came home to play with cooper. with the lake thawed and weather warm enough that cooper shaking lake water off on us isn’t too bad, we went across the street to throw the ball for coops. you can simply say “want to go swimming?” and cooper immediately heads for the lake, knowing that he has to pause and wait for me to cross the street. then he dashes off to the shore, then runs back to check in to make sure i’m still coming, then back to the water and then back to me. swimming is the best thing for his poor elbows and he absolutely loves it. before we came back to the house, i dipped mallory’s toes in the lake; she started kicking a little bit but didn’t seem to mind the chilly water on her piggies :-)   i currently have a passed out puppy at my feet and a snoozing baby in her crib. life is good.
