Rough life for King Cooper & Princess Mallory of Portage, eh?
Month: May 2007
Friends
I got scolded today because it has been 6 days since the last entry on Mallory’s blog. Oopsie.
Anyway, we had a nice Memorial Day weekend. Unfortunately the weather wasn’t super great for us to enjoy the outdoors all weekend but it got decent enough to be able to spend some nice quality time with family & friends. Here is Mallory & her friend Alli enjoying the shade in the 50 SPF baby tent, sharing toys. So cute!
Nothing too fancy to report from Mallory’s end. She still loves to stand up holding on to whatever, and has even tried to pull herself …
It's gotta be the cheeks
I have said all along that Mallory looks just like her dad – she has his dark eyes and his perfectly round head, but looking back at baby pictures, maybe she looks a little like me? Here are pics of Rick, Mallory & me. You be the judge.
Boat Trip
Mallory went on her second ever boat trip tonight! She started to really get into watching the water float by and we had our first boat cruise diaper change (which is pretty tough on a rocking boat). Can’t wait for more fun boat days!
I will say this – – boating with a 6.5 mo old is not as relaxing as it is without a baby, that’s for sure.
Fun Art
I had a plan (maybe a dumb-new mom mistake-mess making plan?) to make some belated Mother’s Day art for Mallory’s grandmas. After seeing that she did a handprint at school for my Mother’s Day gift, I thought it would be fun to try it at home. I picked up some washable fingerpaints and stripped Mallory down to her diaper. As you can see from the picture, she is apparently a lefty (which will make #10 happy). Other good news is that the label on the fingerpaints didn’t lie – it was very easy to clean up. Phew.
Another weekend of Michigan …
Good Sharer
This kid cracks me up. Mallory’s new thing (well one of a few new things) is that she wants me to have her pacifier. She will pick it up and shove it in my mouth. And then start laughing. Remove pacifier and repeat. Over and over.
Another newish thing – if she’s sitting on the floor near me, she lunges and grabs at me until she can start crawling up me. I have mixed emotions about the day she will run and collapse into my arms because I am the only one she wants (the mixed emotions part comes in because …
Summer must be coming…
I HATE MOSQUITOS. The only good thing about them is that they mean summer is coming (or is already here). Mallory & I took Coops on a little woods walk and the bugs were out in full force ~ I got my first bite of the season tonight and it’s so annoying. We may have to break down and get the bug cover for the carrier.
There was something else I was going to post about but it must not have been very important because I can’t remember what it was. The baby is taking a nap and Cooper is passed out too. …
Happy Mother's Day to me!
Still can’t believe I have a kid. When I say this out loud, Rick responds with “Oh, you better believe it”. Thanks.
I had a great first Mother’s Day. My family gave me some awesome gifts and it was fun to spend the day just hanging out. Mallory got me some BEAUTIFUL flowers and a book I wanted, Rick got me a gift certificate to the spa (yeah – pedicures!) and Cooper got me (or him??) a travel dog bed that we’d been eyeing for the back of my car. We went to dinner with my mom and my sister & …
Launch
Today is a big day! Our boat is in the water and Rick & our neighbor are putting in our boatlift as I type. The boat fired right up this spring and Rick made it across the lake back to our house, so we hope to go for our first cruise of the season this weekend. We have a life jacket for Princess Pumpkin Head already. Let’s hope she likes the water and boating; we may be in trouble if she doesn’t.
Mallory made me a cute flower at daycare for my first Mother’s Day. The “leaves” are her handprints, the …
16#s, 2'-1.5"
Those are Mallory’s new 6-month stats. So in 6 months she has doubled her birth weight and grown 5.5 inches. The doctor seemed very happy with her growth and development and told us to keep up what we’re doing. Our little girl got high marks for social development – she was waving her hand at the doctor and the doctor kept laughing saying “it really looks like she is waving ‘HI’!!”. She was very smiley up until her shots and promptly fell asleep in the car on the way home.
We learned a new term yesterday at daycare: “lava poop”. I guess …
