Mallory is *thisclose* to crawling. She actually will roll to her stomach and reach like crazy for stuff. She is working on her spin move ~ she will twirl around on her tummy to reach a toy I’ve set behind her. As exciting as it is to watch her develop these new skills, I am equally anxious about what will accompany her being mobile.
*no more worrying just about the dog licking the dirty dishes while we are loading up the dishwasher;
*the baby gates we bought 2 years ago will finally really be used for a baby;
*the dog will probably finally …

Calm
Phew. Things have calmed down at our house. The dog is back to normal (as normal as a high-strung, 2-yr-old, clingy lab can be) and seems to have recovered from Sunday’s episode. The vet couldn’t feel anything in Cooper’s tummy so they told us to just keep an eye on him. We aren’t supposed to worry about the possiblity of epilepsy or treating the seizures until he has more than one seizure in six months. After talking to friends who have labs that have had seizures, it doesn’t sound that uncommon and I almost feel silly for rushing Cooper to …
Slow posting again
(post started Thursday, June 21)
My blog-policeman-friend is going to be dissapointed when he returns from vacation to find only one new post about Miss Mallory so I better get something added here quick.
Rick was busy with football camp so I was a single parent again. Cooper decided to see what would happen if he ate three of my socks and a pair of my underwear. Hopefully he learned that it isn’t too fun…I don’t know if he was ornery that we went for two boat rides without him last weekend or what, but his upstairs priveledges have again been suspended …
Happy Father's Day, Daddy!
Father’s Day is always the start of h*ll week at Rick’s work so unfortunately his first Father’s Day wasn’t anything remarkable. Mallory got him some daddy & me books to read to her and I got him a hamburger recipe book (Mal’s dad LOVES his hamburgers). Most other women can get their husbands shirts, socks, watches, sunglasses, etc – but Rick gets all of those from work, so it makes buying stuff for him sort of hard. And anything he needs for biking or whatever he just gets because I would have no idea.
However, Mallory gave me a gift today …
I {heart} fireflies and cute shoes!!
Mallory is trying so hard to stand up and to crawl. Just this past week she started to pull herself over her feet from a sitting position to being on her tummy. She tries to kick a little but ends up scooting backwards and then rolls over to her back. And she will try to pull herself up on anything she can get her hands on – a bucket of toys, her parents, and – when he is close enough – the dog. Here is a video of her trying oh so hard to get to her feet, while a …
Sign her up!
We have had a busy week; Rick was gone for a work trip so MC & I held down the fort. She was pretty good all week – and had a couple of firsts.
One is clapping — she has done this before but always with a toy in her hand so I always thought she was just trying to transfer the toy from one hand to the other and kept missing. But Thursday night she full on was clapping. She doesn’t move her left arm though, it stays pinned to her side, and she has to keep checking her alignment, …
Visit with Aunt Molly & Amanda
Mal-Star & I headed west Saturday to visit Mol-Star & Manda-Star for a wonderful brunch prepared by Molly’s folks. We had a great time just spending time with good friends – we did a little swimming, a little sunning, and a lot of chatting. Mallory was adorable as usual, she sat and played by herself for a bit so that we could eat. When it was her turn, she actually got some waffles and bananas and egg yolks. (It is so fun giving her “real” food – it will make life so much easier when I don’t have to pack cereal …
Swim Mama!!
Mallory is no longer a lake virgin, we had her in the lake and she LOVED it. I was afraid it was going to be a little chilly but she took right to it, like a fish to water. We stayed where it was shallow enough for her to stand up (with my help) ~ she just bounced and danced and probably would have stayed there all night if not for my back getting sore!! Rick was throwing the ball for Cooper so we had that entertainment swimming by as well.
I told Rick that next summer we’ll be dealing with …
