Phew. Things have calmed down at our house. The dog is back to normal (as normal as a high-strung, 2-yr-old, clingy lab can be) and seems to have recovered from Sunday’s episode. The vet couldn’t feel anything in Cooper’s tummy so they told us to just keep an eye on him. We aren’t supposed to worry about the possiblity of epilepsy or treating the seizures until he has more than one seizure in six months. After talking to friends who have labs that have had seizures, it doesn’t sound that uncommon and I almost feel silly for rushing Cooper to the animal hospital. But he is our first child and he scared us to death. Luckily he seems to be fine now so we’ll just keep on going on.
Mallory is still a delight, of course. She keeps having these breakthroughs of clapping, waving, etc, but then doesn’t keep practicing and loses it. Her latest thing is clapping with her feet. She hasn’t clapped with her hands in a couple of weeks (probably since I took that video of her) but she can do some mean cheering with her piggies. It’s so funny. It probably has to do with her always ending up on her back ~ anytime she does pull herself over her feet to get into a “crawling” position, she immediatly rolls over to her back. Rarely will she roll back to her tummy, and if she is on her tummy, she will NOT make any effort to move her body towards anything.
With the weather finally warm enough for Rick to have the top off his Jeep, Mallory has enjoyed a little open-air action on the way to school in the morning. Rick took these pictures this morning; yes, that is a bungee cord holding a blanket over her lap. (Just for clarification — Mallory is strapped into her carseat, and the carseat is snapped into the base. The bungee cord is simply holding the blanket on her lap.)
