Happy Father's Day, Daddy!

Father’s Day is always the start of h*ll week at Rick’s work so unfortunately his first Father’s Day wasn’t anything remarkable. Mallory got him some daddy & me books to read to her and I got him a hamburger recipe book (Mal’s dad LOVES his hamburgers). Most other women can get their husbands shirts, socks, watches, sunglasses, etc – but Rick gets all of those from work, so it makes buying stuff for him sort of hard. And anything he needs for biking or whatever he just gets because I would have no idea.

However, Mallory gave me a gift today in the form of a 4 hour nap. This was great for couple of reasons, but the best was that part of the nap was spent in the stroller while I walked with my sister at the metropark. She (Mallory, not my sister) normally HATES the jogging stroller and it makes me attempting to exercise very unpleasant so the fact that she slept the whole time was outstanding.

After her power-nap and a trip to town to take dad lunch, we had a boat date with my sister & her kids and my dad. Mallory slept for a few minutes standing up/leaning on Grandpa (really? more sleeping?!?) while we made our way to the sandbar; she woke up a little crabby and then was really not happy when I tried to get her in the water. But she got used to it really quickly (it helped that the lake is warm and it was about 90 degrees out!). I got a little video of her hanging out on her floaty…she just loved it (click here for video).

Yesterday was the 9th Michigan Women’s Football Academy. My mom is a 9-yr veteran and I have been a few times but I was excited to take Mallory this year – mostly so we could show her off and I could eat a good Outback catered lunch :-)  The first part of the day Lloyd Carr talks about a certain aspect of football, this year it was assignments and stances and stuff. Well, Miss Mallory thought she should chime in with her 2 cents…and starts babbling away. I should explain that not one single person dares talk while Lloyd is speaking. My mother was horrified, and we were scrambling to get Mallory plugged with her paci. While at the camp yesterday, Mallory got to “work” with dad…notice how quickly she learned that it’s all about the keys.
