Mallory

All done

Mallory is showing flashes of my personality. Up until now she has been all Rick – VERY easy going, mellow, laid-back, go-with-the-flow, etc. But just the past week or so, she isn’t afraid to let us know she does NOT want another sip of apple juice or her pacifier or another bite of food – and she chooses to tell us this by sweeping her arm across her highchair tray or giving you a kung-foo arm to swat the cup away. I better go look up “all done” in my baby signing books. I think that should be our next sign, or rather her first since she doesn’t know any other signs.

She is starting to be a stinker in other ways too . . . she has been able to find her pacifier and plug herself for months now. But when she is in a mood (usually in the car) she pulls the pacifier out and starts to cry. So I reach back and try to re-plug her and she just spits it out – over & over again, and keeps crying. Or wanting to stand up in the bathtub; it’s hard to give her the consequence of bathtime being over if she stands up when I’m still working on getting her clean. We need to work on this “on the bottom” one or else she’s going to slip in the tub and lose the two teeth she has. I think she sort of knows what “no” means because when I say it she looks right at me but she doesn’t seem to care much.

Mallory has also started to become much more verbal and making sounds that actually sound like real words. We were walking with Cooper in the woods the other day, and I was carrying her in the backpack carrier, and she was saying “Ga! Ga!” and it totally sounded like she was telling me “Go! Go!” (settle down cupcake, you try walking on trails with 20 lbs of baby on your back!). Her other new word is “ahh-pull” – Rick & I are convinced she’s saying “apple” and we fully acknowledge that would it be really strange if that’s her first word.

  1. they are SUCH little stinkers aren’t they? jack is also just starting to be very opinionated and impatient in his highchair!!! we have been working on “more” because when he wants more he whines and bangs his tray – does NOT make eating time very fun for me and i don’t think saying “jackson” over and over again in a stern voice really does much. when i say no to jack (like when he is crawling towards a vent or plug) he turns around, looks at me, SMILES, and then keeps going – the little STINKER!!! anyways his 9 month appointment is tomorrow (as well as his 9 month bday!!!) so i can’t believe they are getting so big!!!!
