Mallory

My Sweet Little . . . Bulldozer?

Our friend’s daughter is in daycare with Mallory and we trade reports — Mallory is usually there already when Allison gets dropped off so I occasionally get a call from Alli’s mom with a Mallory update, and Mallory leaves before Allison does in the afternoon so I call or text Christine with updates/pictures of the girls when I pick up Mallory.

Yesterday Christine called and was laughing about Mallory – she told me she was in the corner with all the toys, and wanted to crawl over to where Allison was. I guess there were a number of toys blocking her path, and Christine said that Mallory was grabbing whatever was in her way, and tossing it to the side to make room, just bulldozing her way through. I’ve seen her do this at home, and she gets very frustrated when she’s behind her walker and the dog or a wall or a toy impedes her progress, so I got a kick out of Christine’s use of “bulldozer”. What a little lady we are raising. LOL.

Here is our little bulldozer at home – I guess the exersaucer was a little too big to move so she just bulldozed right through it.

Mallory is still enjoying her newfound mobility. She is also practicing standing on her own. . . she’ll pull up on something and then *very* carefully let go. She totally reminds me of me stepping out on the ice in skates with no pads – not sure how long you’ll be able to go before falling, and trying to figure out how much it will hurt. It amazes me what is going through her head as she is learning all these new skills. What happens ovenight for her to wakeup and think “today I will try to stand up and not hold on to anything”?

Another busy week at the homestead; football started and Rick has done a good job of getting home before Mallory falls asleep. He has been in charge of bedtime so he is able to spend some time with her. Plus, he likes rocking her to sleep because he ends up falling asleep too. I’d prefer he not do that – I don’t want her to get used to it – but it’s hard to get mad because they look so stinking cute.

Mallory & I joined some friends for dinner last night – Sarah & her 11-mo old daughter Erin and Christine & her 10-mo old daughter Allison (Mallory was the baby of the group at 9-mos). Sarah & I met in our prenatal yoga class, and Christine & her husband were in lamaze with Rick & me (funny story there, I’m waiting for Christine to write it up for me). The girls were all pretty well-behaved and I feel sorry for whoever had to clean up the cheerios and baby goldfish under our table when we left!
