Ooops. For all the walking (and subsequent falling) that Mallory has been doing the past couple of weeks, the only injuries have been a slight bruise on her cheek from a toy bus at school and a bruise on bum from falling on her bag of wooden blocks. How horrible that her first bloodshed was the result of a hug from mom.
Some of her favorite toys are Cooper’s hard bones. Cooper chews & gnaws on them and the plastic (I think they are plastic?) gets some pretty rough edges. Last night Mallory was walking around with one and I scooped her on to my lap for a big snuggle; the rough end of the bone was up near her face and it gave her a little cut when I squeezed her tight. That cheek has seen some rough days (it’s the same one that met the toy bus at school) and it must be extra sweet since whenever she gets bit by a mosquito on her face, it’s almost always under her right eye. Anyway, here is what I did to my sweet baby girl:
I texted Rick and said “I made her BLEED!” and my phone rang not 2 minutes later. LOL.
She is a pretty tough cookie – it has to take a pretty hard fall and her head hitting something for her to cry. A lot of times we just sit back and watch – usually she’ll get right back up. So when she does start crying after a fall we know she knocked her head pretty good. And at daycare, they say she cries more when they try to hold & comfort her so they just put her back down on the floor and off she goes.
