I need to get these down on “paper” before I forget:
- When it’s bathtime, Mallory will get herself to the tub and then try to pull her shirt up and will help me by stepping out of her pants. Then when she’s stripped down to her diaper, she’ll look down at it, as though she is telling me “um, Mom? a little help here, please”. All this while she’s standing next to the tub contemplating throwing her leg over the “boards”, hockey-style, to get into the tub.
- I think we had a couple of comprehension breakthroughs yesterday: (1) I asked her where her bear was and she turned around and crawled back to her room, where her bear blankie was laying on the floor; (2) This is embarrassing for me, but too cute to not add. I was a little gassy yesterday, and let one go and it was sort of loud. Mallory looked at me and said “ppfflllllllllltttttttt”. I was DYING!! My dad said I shouldn’t tell that story to too many people but I am not afraid to take one for the team in order to tell a funny story about my kid.
- She is walking all over the place now – as long as she has a launch spot from where she can pull herself up on. Then she’ll walk-walk-walk until she falls and then finish her journey on her hands and knees. And when she is crawling, she gets really excited to get to where she is headed, so her knees get going faster than her hands – that is pretty funny to see her almost go arse over applecart.
- Mallory is saying “mamamamamamamama” and “dadadadadadada” but at this point I don’t know if she is saying them in reference to Rick & me. She is also saying two other words that I think mean baby and Cooper. The baby thing sounds “baaa-beeeee” and the Cooper thing sounds like “buh-pee” and again – I don’t know if she is saying them on purpose but she mostly uses them when she is around Cooper or a baby.
- She has a big bin of toys in the living room but the one thing she loves to play with is Cooper’s leash hanging by the door. Cooper’s water is also near the door so she tries to get the clasp-thing from the leash into the water. Luckily it’s a spillproof bowl ~ I was thinking when I got that 2 years ago for Cooper to have water on the boat! The gross thing is that she sticks her hands and sometimes her pacifier in that water. Blech.
- Mallory’s top two teeth are breaking through as I type – one is almost all the way through and the other is right there. The only way I can see her teeth is if I turn her upside down, so that has turned into a new game. It starts with her backing herself into my lap to sit down. Then she tries to lean back – that is my cue to grab her by the thighs and pull her upside down. She giggles & giggles and Cooper tries to kiss her face.
More later…Go Blue!!
