Princess Pumpkinhead at the Pumpkin Patch

We took the obligatory trip to the pumpkin farm with our pumpkinhead this weekend.  The place had some farm animals and a pick-your-own-pumpkin patch. Little Miss Independent insisted on walking by herself through all the pumpkins – she still isn’t super-sure on her feet, but she doesn’t want me to help her so it was a long walk. Luckily we only got one little pumpkin for Mallory and one for mom & dad to share…Rick was dying trying to balance it on his shoulder!

Mallory was calling all of the animals “buh-bheee”, which is what she calls Cooper. We were trying to explain that they were cows, goats, and pigs. (click on any picture to see a bigger version)

Mallory’s vocabulary is growing by the day. I think she says something like “ak” for “Thank you”, since she says that after you hand her something. And she says Hi and Hiya, which reminds me of my Uncle Beaky ~ he used to always walk into a room and say “Hiya, Hiya, Hiya!!”

Rick is constantly getting her to imitate him – the latest thing was the other day she was on her changing table with a bare belly. Rick starting patting his own tummy and making noise, and she started smacking her stomach right along with him. For a guy who used to ask me “why do parents always make their babies do cow & dog noises?”, it is pretty funny to see him getting Mallory to do tricks.

Mals has a little table with chairs in my scrapbook room and she will go and try to climb up on the chair all by herself and pat at the table until I hand her a crayon. I think I’ll have a scrapping buddy pretty soon. Yeah!!

She has another tooth peeking through, the next bottom one on the right. Everyone assures me that teeth coming in out of order is nothing to worry about, but of course I’m paranoid that it’s all because of that sip of margarita I had when I was pregnant.

That’s all for now – more later!

  1. Um, hi….this is Laura Draper, long time, first time……
I like the “Hook ’em horns” sign Mallory is making with her right hand squatting in front of the pumpkin!!! She thinks she is changing the
    play under center!

  2. what a cute outfit she has on – she is amazing with all her words – i think your margarita gave her advanced knowledge and an edge on the rest of one year olds! next time lets go out together (:
