Mallory

Addendum to Week 51…

I KNEW I’d have some stuff to add:

  • Mallory has been”using” her utensils at mealtime for a few weeks, but usually she tries to stab the food with the wrong end of the fork and ends up using her hands, or I load the food on to her fork for her and she will feed herself. But last night she actually stuck her fork into a piece of pasta and got into her mouth all be herself!
  • She now walks around the house with her remote control held to her ear saying “hhiiiiii”. Not so sure who she is talking to.
  • When Cooper was a puppy, Rick got one of those Fisher Price basketball hoops and taught Cooper to slam-dunk his stuffed basketball. Rick can say “Cooper – want to play basketball?” and Coops sits in front of the entertainment center, eyeing his stuffed basketball that we keep on top of the e-center. Well, poor Cooper is way confused because Rick broke the hoop out for Mallory and now asks Mallory if she wants to play basketball. And then when they start playing, Cooper tries to get rebounds and gets scolded for chasing the ball (Mallory gets to play with the real inflatable ball that came with the basketball hoop and we don’t want Cooper to pop it). I feel so badly for him – I don’t know if we can discipline him for acting like a dog! It’s not his fault Mallory came along and displaced him as #1 in our house.
  • On that note…Mallory LOVES her Cooper most of the time:
    • In the morning when Mallory wakes up, she finds her paci and plugs herself…but when she hears Cooper’s collar, out comes the paci so she can say “buh-puh”.
    • When Cooper is on his pillow (where he’s probably been banished to for being underfoot in our kitchen), Mallory toddles over and hands him his bone. He *very* gently takes it from her and if he stops chewing on it, Mallory will return and hold it up to his mouth again.
    • But, there are some times where Mallory could do without Super-Coop and his super-tail – she is still wobbly and when Cooper gets all fired up and excited he knocks her down :-(

I guess that is enough documenting for two days. Next entry will probably be written through tears as I post about Mallory’s birthday party.

p.s. Go Blue.
