Mallory

Week 51 in MY Baby's Development

Some recent developments that I need to write down:

  • Mallory is a talking machine. She’s been saying “mamamamama” and her version of “Cooper/puppy” for a couple of weeks, but just last week, she picked up “Uh-oh” from her cousin Lauren. She says it whenever something drops, and even helped me not lose my grocery list today. Out of the blue she said “Uh-oh” so I looked to see what she dropped. Turns out my list was on the floor. Good girl Mals!! She also is a big fan of “hhhiiiiiiiiiiiii” and “ball” and has some version of “thank you” that sounds like “ack” when you hand her something.
  • When I picked her up from daycare today, I asked where her football was (they tell me that the football is her favorite ball in the pile). She marched over to the blue plastic kiddy pool where all the balls are, and sorted through to bring me the brown football. I couldn’t stop laughing.
  • Mallory is one of the first kids to leave in the afternoon so we have a routine of saying & waving “bye-bye” to all of her little friends. Then she *insists* on climbing up the stairs and she will hold my hand until we get down the first step outside but then she is done with me and my hand-holding. We walk to the car slowly, stopping to say hi to a bush or pick up a leaf. This is fine for now since it has been unseasonably warm, but come January, she better step up her pace.
  • dsc03551.jpgOn the way home from school, I pulled an apple out of my pocket and took a couple of bites. From the backseat she starts saying “mmmmmm” and pointing at my apple so I hand it to her. She proceeds to crunch on my apple the entire way home, and did a good job finishing it off perched in her highchair. I got some video of it that will be posted later.
  • I posted a few weeks ago about Mallory and her faulty Indian “woo-hoo” and that I would get video of it. Well, she blew by me and is already doing it the right way (making the noise by moving her hand, rather than moving her mouth). It bums me out and reminds me of that TCF Bank commercial where the kid keeps doing all these new tricks and the parents haven’t gone to TCF to open their new account to get the free digital camera. I need to not procrastinate and document the things she is doing funny/wrong today since she will probably be doing them right tomorrow!

I know I’m missing some of the other things that have made me laugh the past couple of weeks but I will post when I remember!
