Dancing Queen

We had Mallory’s follow-up flu shot today and she also had blood drawn to check for lead, because I didn’t know how old our house and if there was any lead paint. The flu shot was quick and painful, and the blood draw was long and painful. Poor kid was in a mom straightjacket, while the med tech tried to hold her arm still, while the lab lady poked for a vien and drew her blood. It probably didn’t help that the med tech had horrible breath and was talking EXTREME baby talk: “oh, dis will only hurt a widdle bit, widdle girl”, with his face right in our faces. BACK OFF. Mallory was SCREAMING bloody murder, poor kid. The only good thing from the visit to the doctor today was that her ear infection has cleared up 100%; hopefully it will stay that way through our big trips we have coming up the next 5 weeks.

Mallory had a big weekend alone with dad (I railed it to Chicago for a quick trip with the Hens to do some eating & shopping). Mals & Rick had a field trip to the hardware store and the Michigan hockey game and did lots of playing. Everyone was alive when I got home, and Mallory greeted me at the door with a quick giggle (but I think the dog missed me the most). This was only the second time I’d been away overnight from Mals and it wasn’t as traumatic as I was afraid it was going to be.

Anyway, here’s the tie-in to the post title: We didn’t get this on video the first time she did it, but it’s still pretty funny to watch her “dance”. We laugh at her Stevie-Wonder-like weave, and it’s so funny that she’ll keep hitting the toast on her 2-in-1 Learning Kitchen until the right song starts playing.
