Poor mom had to work today, so Miss Mallory got to hang with Aunt Emily and her favorite cousins. They went on a field trip to the Y to go swimming and to Emily’s in-laws for a Christmas celebration. I joined up with them at Em’s after work – Mallory has the *best* time hanging with Shane, Lauren & Liam, it’s so fun to watch.
Mallory & I are at home tonight waiting for Santa, but I have to hurry up and go to sleep because Santa won’t come if we are awake (that’s that I had to tell Shane so …

"Don't know…"
Finally got this on film:
Please forgive her ragamuffin appearance…today was a lazy lazy day and I didn’t want to dress her up in really cute clothes since that would just magnify the slobbiness of my sweats & t-shirt.
This is what Mallory does when she is trying to say “don’t know” in response to me asking where something/someone is. These pictures are her direct answers to “where is Cooper? where is Daddy?”, respectively. I love it when she does this, it makes me laugh so hard.
We can’t quite figure out where she learned it, because we …
Family Christmas
Rick left this morning for the bowl trip so we celebrated our little family Christmas last night. Mallory *so* didn’t get into it, unfortunately.
From the moment we found out we were knocked up, I have been fretting over how we handle Santa when we are never home on Christmas morning. The plan was to tell Mallory that Santa knows we won’t be home so he will bring her gifts on the day we tell him to in the letter she will write to Santa. This year was screwy because M & I are going to be home on Christmas morning – …

Mallory's One Year Pictures
Since I’ve sent out our Christmas cards (which had Mals one-yr picture on it), I can finally share them with the world :-) (click on any picture to make it bigger)
This one made the Christmas card cut
Geez, she looks so sweet here! It’s very deceiving :-)
How old are you Mals? ONE!
This is our annual in the woods Christmas card picture through the years (2005, 2006 & 2007). Rick joked that our branch might not hold us all next year…it was a little creaky when all …
Product Junkie
I think one of the few things that bugs Rick about me is that I have about 20 bottles of lotion, 20 bottles of hair junk, and 20 things of lipstick that I never use all cluttering the bathroom closet and countertop and drawers. Whenever he proposes a “big clean”, cleaning my side of the bathroom is always at the top of his list. I have been slowly going through my inventory, mostly because I don’t replenish my stash like I used to (I buy diapers at Target now instead of body or hair stuff). This is actually pretty funny …
You didn't see what I just did, did you?
Ok, this is a totally true story. Whether you choose to believe what I say I saw is up to you:
I finished up my Christmas shopping this weekend. When we got home, Mallory started to eat lunch while I started to unpack all my bags. I walked past her with the triangular shaped crayons I bought her (I’ve heard they are good for plane rides because they don’t roll off the tray) and dropped them in her stocking, you know, just helping Santa get a head start. Anyway, I turned around and saw Mallory watching me. I said “Hey Mals, …
Brusha-brusha-brusha
I keep forgetting to post about Mallory’s new hygiene obsession. We got her a little toothbrush and toddler toothpaste, and she will now brush her own teeth. After her bath at night, she’ll sit on my lap and immediately look up at the shelf where we keep her brush. I’ll put a dab of toothpaste on her brush and she’ll go to town, occasionally handing me her toothbrush to run under the water or trying to brush my teeth. I don’t know how much she actually brushes as opposed to just chews on the bristles but either way I figure …
Dancing Queen
We had Mallory’s follow-up flu shot today and she also had blood drawn to check for lead, because I didn’t know how old our house and if there was any lead paint. The flu shot was quick and painful, and the blood draw was long and painful. Poor kid was in a mom straightjacket, while the med tech tried to hold her arm still, while the lab lady poked for a vien and drew her blood. It probably didn’t help that the med tech had horrible breath and was talking EXTREME baby talk: “oh, dis will only hurt a widdle …
Visit with Santa
Mallory, Cooper & Santa, December 2007
Mallory was a little afraid of Santa, but once we got Cooper situated and Santa started singing to her, she stopped freaking out long enough for us to get one picture. :-)
