here is my lesson learned for this week: if the baby wakes up at 2.15a (a completely unprecedented middle of the night wakeup), do NOT send her just-returned-from-11-days-away daddy in to “comfort” her, unless you want to not only have to comfort her from her night wakeup, but also have to comfort her from the scary guy who showed up next to her crib.

cooper is 2!
today is cooper’s 2nd birthday and we celebrated with a walk in the woods with his dog friends: CJ, Fenway, Buster, Randy, Reilly and Buddy. coops was SOOOO excited to have all his friends enjoying his favorite walk spot. i even think reilly & her mom may start joining us for walks after work.
coops got some cool dog treat presents (he was sniffing them out the whole ride home) and he handed out some nice gift bags for his friends that had a peanut butter rawhide and a milkbone in them.
i am a huge dork, i know, throwing a party for …
here's a visual for you
i figured that since i talk so much about her sleeping, i’ll share a picture of her sleeping. i put the blankets next to her face and she pulls them across her face with her hands and falls asleep in one second.
and she naps!
we are more than halfway through our bachelorette week and we are surviving. i am not going to bed as early as i should to accommodate my earlier alarm in the morning but other than that, it’s all good. we had a fun afternoon – playing and laughing. seeing her smile is one of my favorite things!
the big news of the day is that she is finally napping at daycare – yeah!! – and went down easily for a nap ~5.30p tonight – double yeah! we have been having some napping issues (which you can read about in this blog) …
freaky dog
why is my dog such a freak? he can be fast asleep and the minute he hears the TV click off, the laptop close, or my socked feet touch the carpet, he is up like a shot, ready to follow me wherever – the bathroom, the kitchen, the laundry room – it doesn’t matter. god love him for loving me so much but seriously – he’s so clingy!!
day 4, bachelorettehood
we are on night 4 of bachelorettehood. things are going well so far, it’s pretty easy since mallory is on a decent schedule. friday night my dad came out for dinner; saturday we took coops for a long walk in the woods with his friends CJ & fenway, and then mallory headed out for her first sleepover (i had a late hockey game saturday night and early hockey practice sunday morning, so rather than disturbing my sister’s household late-late saturday and early sunday, we decided i would just leave mallory there all night).
i got to emily’s with enough time to …
the bachelorettes
mallory & i are bachelorettes for the next 10 days. well, bachelorettes with a dog. rick left us to go on spring break with the softball team so the chicks and the dog are on our own. mallory is starting off the weekend with a big nap on the couch, and i should be taking advantage of the hands free time by doing some cleaning. so here i go, more later :-)
new toys (ours, not mallorys)
we got a new camcorder earlier this year and are slowly figuring out how to have so much fun with it. we are able to download to our computer and make movies. here is a little one we did this week, showing mallory “talking”. enjoy!
(make sure you have your sound on!)
i seriously watch this almost hourly at work. i can’t stand how cute she is!!
happy valentines day!
we are settling into some pretty nice routines and schedules with little miss mallory. she likes a long nap in the morning and takes couple of shorter naps later in the day ~ we still suffer through the evenings if she doesn’t sleep enough during the day. it’s hard because we might be trying to fit too much stuff in to our days at the expense of her sleeping. she makes up for the sleeping at night, and still goes down beautifully at bedtime, but it’s hard for us to have dinner and quiet time if she is crabby pants. …
a bunch of sickos
We are all sick. Mallory, rick, me ~ even cooper. The humans have colds and the canine has a bladder infection (which we are hoping will explain his recent peeing in the house).
Mals is now 3 months old. She has developed into a fabulous night sleeper and a not-so-great daytime sleeper. She still loves her baths. She is very tolerant of all of the escapades rick & i drag her along on, like leaving the house at 6p on sunday to hit a couple of super bowl parties. She just rolls with it which is outstanding. She is also agreeable …
