Really? People are *really* asking me this question? Are you kidding me? Michigan lost to a division 2 school and people really think I had a good weekend?
I don’t normally care about the outcomes of the game – I enjoy the atmosphere, the band and spending time with my friends tailgating and a win on Saturday afternoons in the fall is icing on the cake. Of course I want Michigan to win every game but this loss hurts more than any other that I can remember. Yes, even more than losing to OSU the day after Bo died last fall. …

Fire up! It's Saturday!
First football game this afternoon!! The car is all packed, jello shots are ready and now I’m just waiting for Mallory to wake up.
I woke up extra early so that I wouldn’t forget anything so since I have a few minutes (I think) before MC wakes up, I’ll share some of Mallory’s latest tricks: She is getting BEYOND independent. If I’m walking with her holding her little hands in my fingers and I try to change her direction towards where I want her to go, she shrieks in protest and sits down. And she is obsessed with having her sippy cup …
Boat Girls
Rick & I had a rare date night last night and we joined some friends for dinner in Dexter. Cheri & I enjoyed two-too-many Cosmoplitans but we had a really fun time. Cheri’s husband works with Rick and they live out our way – we are all counting the days that their Mallory can babysit our Mallory so it will be easier for us all to go out!
Here are some pictures from what was probably our last afternoon boat cruise of the summer. We had an absolutely beautiful Sunday afternoon so we took full advantage! What a difference two years …
A Bulldozer AND a Bully?
Picked Mallory up from school today – she was in the front row of the quad stroller by herself and her friend Allison was in the back row all by herself. Mallory is usually on her own in the front row but I’ve never thought anything about it but today I asked the daycare lady if she always sits by herself. The daycare lady said she has to put Mallory by herself in the front because she pulls hair. I am HORRIFIED!
Gotta go do some research on how to stop this behavior. Yikes.
Time to post
Looking at my August posting history, I have been pretty consistent with a Monday-Thursday posting pattern. But last night Mallory & I ventured into Ann Arbor for Rick’s hockey game so I missed my normal posting night. I should have had my camera with me at Rick’s game because the picture of Mallory belly up to boards, banging on the glass whenever anyone skated by, was priceless. Rick even scored a goal (not a common occurrence) and after some prompting from me, Mallory clapped for dad’s goal. It was so cute.
Not much to report this week, but I wish I …
Up North
Mals & I took a road trip “Up North” with my mom this past weekend. The weather wasn’t super great but we did get a little beach, water & boat time in and we had a WONDERFUL time with my aunt & uncle and their yellow lab Tucker. It is always such a treat to visit them – they have a beautiful house with a great deck overlooking Walloon Lake; one of my favorite things is “cocktail hour” on the deck, enjoying the company and the view. Mallory was a great little girl all weekend – cute and charming and …
Mischief is Mallory's new middle name
Holy Little Miss Mischief. She is out of control.
I *just* read an article about giving your dog space with the new baby, to not let the baby interrupt mealtimes because dogs can be pretty territorial about their food. Apparently Cooper & Mallory haven’t gotten the memo, seeing as how Cooper stepped aside so Mallory could join him at his dinner table last night. Mallory thought it would be fun to pull Cooper’s water dish out of the stand, luckily it wasn’t full of water.
Mallory’s other new trick followed shortly after…”come to the bathroom to get ready for your bath!”, I …
"I guess she can stay" -Cooper
Cooper might just be starting to see some value in having Mallory around (aside from her sharing food with him from her high chair, which we put the kibash on whenever we see it happening).
Cooper has been textbook retriever from almost day one ~ I say “almost” because the first couple of days we had him he didn’t like the water and didn’t like to retrieve…so Rick & I were sure he was defective. But he quickly jumped (and tumbled and somersaulted) into a retrieving beast and will chase a tennis ball until you give up. (picture is Cooper ~ …
9-months!
Forgot to post an update from Mallory’s 9-mo checkup.
Little Miss Mallory turned 9-mos on Monday, and at her doctor’s appointment she got great marks on everything. She weighed in at 20lbs, and is 27.5 inches long.
The doctor did find that Mallory has an umbilical hernia, which I’ve heard is hereditary. My dad’s dad, my dad, and I have all had surgery to repair umbilical hernias. Back in the olden days, they end up stitching you back up with no bellybutton, luckily by the time my dad & I had our surgeries, they are better about it; but how come I …
My Sweet Little . . . Bulldozer?
Our friend’s daughter is in daycare with Mallory and we trade reports — Mallory is usually there already when Allison gets dropped off so I occasionally get a call from Alli’s mom with a Mallory update, and Mallory leaves before Allison does in the afternoon so I call or text Christine with updates/pictures of the girls when I pick up Mallory.
Yesterday Christine called and was laughing about Mallory – she told me she was in the corner with all the toys, and wanted to crawl over to where Allison was. I guess there were a number of toys blocking her …
