We tried to find our old house today. We found the street but not the house. Either my parents don’t remember what our house looked like or else all the houses changed in the past 36 years. All they can remember is that the carport was on the left, and that there was an entrance to the kitchen from the carport. Only one house on the road matched that exact description, but then my dad vetoed it because the driveway wasn’t long enough. So then my mom wanted to find their friend’s house on …

Being a mom…
One of my favorite things about being a mom is when Mallory wants me and only me…when I’m the only one she wants to hold her and cuddle with her. (Of course, when I’m trying to get stuff done, it isn’t my favorite thing. And it’s not so fun when she fights her dad because she only wants me.)
But this must be that is why I still call my own mom whenever I need someone to help me through a problem. I just wish she would just give me a hug and a cuddle instead of telling me “snap out …

We made it. Mallory was OUTSTANDING on the plane – a few little meltdowns but in general she was great. She even slept the entire second leg of the flight, which was nice, since it was 9p (and 7am Ann Arbor time).
A couple notes about our trip yesterday:
On the big flight, Mallory had finally fallen asleep. My mom said “good- let her sleep as long as possible…”, but I pointed out that it was really noon where we were going to be spending the week, so maybe she should be awake. She said “NO, …

From LonelyPlanet.com
Think palm trees, white beaches, coral reefs – and the world’s biggest K-Mart. Guam doesn’t fit the stereotype of tribal villages and ancient cultures untouched by the modern world. This highly developed strategic US territory is no postcard ‘Tropical Paradise’. Sure there’s sun, sand and wilderness but travelers know Guam mainly for the duty free shopping.

Watching Mallory Play
I keep forgetting that my child can play by herself. I guess I feel that since I am away from her all day, I should always be at her side when we are at home. But then I remember that it is good for her to have a little alone play time. Right now she is busy running back and forth across the living room, occasionally stopping to watch me type. Now she is trying so very hard to sit on her red Elmo chair while carefully shoving her bear blankie next to her on one side, and a large …

Well, if you’ve gotten this far, you know we are going to Guam. We have had this trip planned since last February, as soon as we could book the flights with our frequent flyer miles.
Why Guam? I was born on Guam, my dad was in the Navy, and we lived there until I was 1.5 years old. Obviously I don’t remember anything but I have always wanted to go back to visit. My dad promised me a trip back when I graduated high school if I had a 4.0. That didn’t happen so he promised me a trip back when …

We are gearing up for our big trip. Part of me thinks it is silly to leave so soon after the bowl game but I guess there really isn’t any other good time to travel. July is the only other month that Rick has down time at work and we want to be on the lake as much as possible in the summer. Two years ago we were getting ready for our belated honeymoon to Aruba…hard to believe that was only two years ago!
Rick is MAD!!
I picked Mallory up from school today and got a report that there is a little boy in Mallory’s room who walked over to her today and tried to give her a kiss. One of the teachers said “Oh, are you going to give Mallory a kiss?” and Mallory took her pacifier out and accepted a kiss from this little boy! Rick is about to march right down to the daycare and kick that kid’s a$$!!!
Another sweet report that I got to witness firsthand…Mallory & Alli giving each other a hug goodbye today when we left, with their little heads …
A Major Hair Don't
Today was “crazy hair day” at Mallory’s daycare but with her short hair and dad being in charge this morning, I didn’t bother leaving instructions for how to do (or undo) her hair.
But when I picked up the pumpkinhead today from school…this is what she looked like:
Major kudos go out to Miss Carole for actually getting these little hair bands in Mallory’s hair.
Before you ask why I didn’t get a picture of her from the front with the ponytails, it’s because you couldn’t see the hair ties anyway. But I should have gotten a picture of her from the front …
