I forgot that re-adjusting to real life and real time was going to be hard too. We got home yesterday around 2p, which is 5a tomorrow Guam time…Mallory slept on and off the whole say home from the airport and the grocery store and then fell asleep during dinner at 5.30p. We woke her up for a bath – I didn’t want her to wake up at 3a if we let her go to sleep that early.
Well, she went down last night without a bottle (now that our traveling is over, weaning her from her nighttime bottle is my next project) and Rick & I went to bed around 8.30p. But then Mallory was up at 11.30p and would not go back to sleep. I caved and we gave her a bottle (her eating was all whacked up with our travel schedule, so I thought she might be hungry) but she guzzled that and was nowhere near going to sleep. I tried all my normal tricks and after an hour, I gave up and thought we’d let her cry for a bit. Both Rick & I were wide awake at this point – 1.15a – and we almost got up and let her play but we outlasted her and by 1.30a she was asleep. I totally expected her to be up early, but around 9.45a Rick & I both woke up and there was no noise from Mallory’s room (I have to say, that whenever that happens – she sleeps longer than I expected, etc – I totally think she must have fallen out of her crib, landed on her head, and is dead. Nice, huh?). But we got up and found her still sound asleep – so much for worrying that she’d be up at 4 – and she wouldn’t wake up for anything! But we finally roused her enough and then when she saw the dog, she completely snapped out of it and off she went. She has been weird today – sort of laying and sitting around, I’m sure she is still tired, but we need to try to get her and the rest of us, back on real-life time.
All three video tapes from our trip have been downloaded; we had some difficulties with the camera after it got splashed by a wave at the ocean. Argh. But all of the video is fine, there are just some audio problems on some of the clips. Rick is going to work on getting them all cleaned up and we’ll post soon!
