Mallory

The naked shopper

Just some random stuff.

DSC04058Mallory has had some pretty nasty runny poop diapers the past two days so I let her go bare-bottomed for a bit today to try to air out. I was at the ready with a towel in case she started to pee or poop. I was also at the ready with the camera because I couldn’t resist her sweet little bum as she pushed her shopping cart into her room.

I always get a little nervous when she gets a bad diaper rash – it was just before our ER visit last fall that she had a HORRENDOUS diaper rash (following days of diarrhea, etc). I don’t know if this is a little bug or if she is getting some new teeth; either way she is loaded up with lots of powder.

The pumpkin has really been starting to be a big help around the house. She will put my dirty clothes down the laundry chute from our bedroom. I was afraid to teach her that trick for fear that EVERYTHING would end up down the laundry chute but to my surprise she only puts down what I ask her to. Her other new thing is to put stuff in the garbage. The first time she thought she’d help with that, two dirty Kleenexes ended up in our silverware drawer. I was watching her the whole time and had to stifle my giggles as I saw her stretch to get them up & into the drawer. I left them there for Rick to see when he got home – he was like “how’d those get there?”. Um, it wasn’t me and it probably wasn’t the dog – who do you think it was? But now she is all about actually putting stuff in the garbage can in the kitchen, and then she tries to replace the child safety latch thing – that is pretty funny too.

Mals & I took a road trip today: we went to Kalamazoo to visit my friend Shauna and her family. Mallory didn’t fall asleep in the car right away like I expected her to – this is what I saw when I turned around:

She is quite the traveler, eh?

Shauna & her husband have an almost 4-yr old girl and an almost 2-yr old girl and will be having baby #3 in one week & 6 days (not the two weeks that I rounded it up to – sorry Shauna!). Both of her girls were all about Mallory and each they wanted to be the one to help give her snacks, it was so cute. Mallory spent the first two-thirds of our visit clinging to me and sitting on my lap – it was very bizarre. But after a couple of hours she warmed up the Shauna’s girls and was giggling and laughing.

We had a wonderful time just hanging out and reminiscing about the 1993-94 K-Wings season, Brewsters Junction, WWMT, Sec 5 Row J Seats 1 & 2, BCN and many other fun & funny memories. Hard to believe it was 14 years ago!

Rick usually does the bedtime routine of bath & stories and finally going to bed usually means Mallory pads over to me in her little footed pjs and unplugs her pacifier to give me a sloppy kiss. The last few nights before we read our books I ask her if she gave Cooper a kiss night-night. And off she goes, padding over to Cooper, unplugging her pacifier and trying to plant one on Cooper. He usually gets her first though, which makes her laugh and come back to me for her stories.

Anyway, I’m off to bed. Mallory had an unusual night last night – up at 10p SCREAMING and up at 3.30 moaning. Since I usually send Rick in for the nighttime stuff (he can go tend to her and not even remember it in the morning, where as I would be up for an hour not being able to go back to sleep so I don’t feel bad at all about sending him in at night) I need to plan ahead if I want to get my normal amount of sleep.

Night-night.
