Here is a post all about me. Since I gave up hockey after Zulu* was born due to scheduling conflicts and having to be at work so early, etc, I haven’t had anything that was just me. I missed the camaraderie of my teammates more than I missed playing hockey and mostly I missed having something to call my own. So Rick encouraged me to finally take that photography class that I’ve been talking about for, oh, about 5.5 years.
First class was last night – and it was so fun! We have a small digital point & shoot camera and …

I'll have some ranch with that
So, forget our attempts to have a de-ranched kid.
At TGI Fridays after Rick’s championship hockey game on Sunday (GO FISH!) – we cut up some cheese stick for Mallory and she started lifting herself out of her seat (leveraging herself with her feet on the footrest of the highchair) so she could reach the ranch that RB had on his plate for his wings. So we gave her the marinara for the cheese sticks and she went to town. But then when her meal came, we gave her the carrot sticks she got as a side (instead of french fries), …
Digging for gold
This is the funniest thing I’ve seen in a long time.
Enjoy.
Disclaimer – I turned around to look at her and she had both fingers up her nose. Then I had to dig in my purse for the camera and we had to get her to do it again. So this isn’t the original but merely a re-enactment. But it still makes me laugh out loud.
Mallory & Cooper at the Lake
Just a little video from this past week…watch Mallory clap her hands and try to call “buh-bah” in from the lake. This video is sort of long and most of you could probably care less, but it is pretty cute to watch.
Outwit-Outplay-Outlast
Funny story from this week. Mallory isn’t a big fan of meats as a meal – and we had steak on Wednesday. We made the mistake of giving her a piece of bread first; then when we only gave her meat and not another piece of bread she had a fit and threw her food on the floor. Rick & I discussed giving her some ranch to maybe get her to eat the meat but both of us agreed that we don’t want to turn her into one of those kids who has to have ranch to eat everything. So …
Sunday Night Thoughts
I always love hearing what songs brides pick to dance to with their daddies at weddings. My dad & I danced to “The Last Farewell” by Roger Whitaker. When I was growing up my dad used to always listen to Roger Whitaker as he was working on projects around the house…hearing this song takes me back about 25 yrs ago and happy memories growing up. It sounds like a sad song but I still liked it just because of where it puts me when I hear it.
The bride at the wedding we went to last night picked “I Loved Her …
Safety Girl
We had a big project today – we needed to finish installing the new storm door and Mallory wanted to help, which meant sitting on Rick’s lap while he drilled some holes. But we told her she needed safety glasses on if she was going to be that close to the drill, etc.
* * *
After some hard work installing the new storm door – Mallory & Rick made a smoothie. I guess Rick makes a smoothie every morning and as they drive to school, Mallory grunts from the back seat because she wants his smoothie. Today …
Baby baby baby
Our baby has a new favorite toy – her baby. The one in the bathtub has been a favorite for a while, but this week she’s taken to carrying her other baby all over the house – trying to give her a pacifier, a drink of milk, wanting the baby to be swaddled and have a diaper (even turning the baby over and pulling up her dress and saying “kinkee!”), holding the phone up to the baby to talk…and then finally this morning – the baby had to go potty, and Mallory had to have the phone.
I SWEAR I …
Frocolate, of course!*
We had a dinner out with some Fish & Hen friends on Friday night at Mongolian BBQ.
After dinner, we went to Kilwins to get some ice cream – the girls went in the store with all the kids, while the husbands stood outside scheming about how to go to the bar down the street for some “car bombs“…so the guys left, and took our friend’s 3.5 mo old twins with them. I guess that when they got to the bar, there were no seats outside so the bouncer was trying to usher them inside. One of Rick’s friends had …
I LOVE being outside!
This being outside stuff is AWESOME – Mallory will play and play by herself forever – chasing a ball, chasing the dog, hanging in her little plastic Adirondack chair, taking a drink of water, putting her cup back in the cupholder on her little Adirondack chair, going down the slide, saying “Hi” to Rick’s football guy statue. As long as I make sure she stays out of the Cooper-poop bucket, she has free reign of the backyard. It is FABULOUS!! Yeah for warm sunny weather :-)
