So, forget our attempts to have a de-ranched kid.
At TGI Fridays after Rick’s championship hockey game on Sunday (GO FISH!) – we cut up some cheese stick for Mallory and she started lifting herself out of her seat (leveraging herself with her feet on the footrest of the highchair) so she could reach the ranch that RB had on his plate for his wings. So we gave her the marinara for the cheese sticks and she went to town. But then when her meal came, we gave her the carrot sticks she got as a side (instead of french fries), and she was reaching for Rick’s ranch again…then she spotted his french fries and lifted herself out of her chair again so she could snag those and dip the fries in his ranch. Rick kept trying to move them farther away and she just kept finding a way to eat them. She was just sticking her hand right through his arms where he was eating. There was no grunting, no crying, no whining – just a simple helping herself to her dad’s food. I was DYING.

Swim class has turned disastrous. She LOVED the ones we did the last two sessions, they have a small pool, with a long bench that she can walk along. But this time we took class at a different place (closer to our house) and it’s in the 4′ deep section of a regular pool and she hates it. I can’t decide if we should not go anymore or just keep trying. I don’t want to get her totally hating the water but she has loved swimming up until this stupid class. This class also starts 30 minutes later than the other one did so I am wondering if part of it is that (we don’t eat until after class). I might send Rick alone next week and see how she does. She is still in this super clingy mom stage so when she sees me she is all done with Rick.
jackson is SO into barbeque sauce – he might eat anything if we dipped it in (: having a kid with food allergies STINKS though – i would love to take him to TGIF and let him eat whatever is on our plate – we can’t let him eat ANYTHING anywhere cause you never know what might be in it – mallory seems SO smart and so intuitive about stuff – i can’t wait to meet her in person one day (:
jack doesn’t like his swim class either – he has this new fear of water – so we are definitely making him go every week even though he clings – and i only got a taste of the clingy mama stage when phil was out of town this weekend and i tried to have some friends help me – it was “mama mama mama” and reaching for me and hugging me – but the second phil came back forget it – i am lucky if i get a goodnight kiss once phil is home every night – and i have to PEEL him off of phils shoulder in the morning sobbing as phil leaves for work – he has always been such a daddy’s boy!!!
