Mallory

This morning's conversation

This was my conversation with Mallory this morning as we walked out the door of the house:

MCB: “MAMA!” (while pointing to my car)

STB: “yes, that is mama’s car”

MCB: “BABY!”

STB: “yes, baby (Mallory) is coming with me in my car to go to school”

MCB: “YAYA (Alli)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

Mallory officially graduated from the infant room to the toddler room at daycare. She had spent some in the toddler room before her graduation so it wasn’t totally new but Monday morning she was a little out of sorts when we hung her bag up on her new hook and put her food in different fridge. I don’t know if she sensed that I was mildly upset about the room move (my little baby is growing up) or what; Alli’s mom reported the same thing happening when she dropped Alli off that first morning so maybe both mommies were a little out of sorts.

Mallory will need some adjustment time – first thing Monday she went over to the highchairs in the infant room and said “eat! eat!” so the ladies had to tell her she gets to eat in the toddler room now. This morning was way better, thank goodness. I don’t normally do daycare drop off but I’m glad that I am on duty this week to help her adjust. Rick is just excited that he doesn’t have to deal with the baby gate at the entrance to the infant room anymore and that he doesn’t have to remove his shoes to go retrieve Mallory’s bag & coat. Because, you know, kicking your Nike sneakers off (without untying them) and then slipping them back on your feet (also without untying them) is such a big pain in the arse.

With both Mallory & I feeling not great – I put her to bed at 6.15p tonight. She was whiny and grumpy and I am too sick & tired to deal with her (note that I wrote that I am too sick & tired TO deal with her, not that I am sick & tired OF dealing with her). Plus because she’s getting up ~1.5 hours earlier with me doing drop off – I think she needed some sleep. Let’s hope this doesn’t backfire with her waking up at 3.30a.

With that – I’m going to bed too.
