One of my favorite things to do in the summer is to make the cruise up the chain of lakes to Zukey Lake Tavern. It takes us about 1.5 hours each way and there are always other boats to look at and say hi to, and turtles to watch for so Mallory is mildly entertained. That and we always have friends with us to make the trip :-)
This past weekend we had D&S and their three kids come out. Their oldest, B, is a big fan of Mallory’s, and I think you can tell from the pictures below that the feeling is mutual!
It was a hot day but INCREDIBLY windy so the lakes were all super choppy and we got splashed a TON from the waves, and then the wind would hit us and we’d all freeze…except Rick who was sheltered behind the captain’s console. Jerk. Even Mallory who normally loves to go fast was a little unsure of all the splashing water. There were a TON of sailboats and windsurfers out taking advantage of the strong winds and a couple of them were FLYING across the lake – it was so cool to watch! And we saw some that were upside down in the middle of the lake. I’ve been there before up on Walloon Lake. It’s tough to right a sailboat when the sail is pointing straight down.
