Mallory

MIA

I feel like I have been neglecting the blog lately, and it’s only been a few days since I last posted (I don’t count copy & pasting an email as a “real” post). Great, another thing to add to my list of things I feel guilty about neglecting. Fabulous.

We are looking forward to the weekend and hope the weather cooperates. I think it’s going to be nice but not too hot. I am hoping we can enjoy some low-key family time. Rick’s free weekends are so few that I want to make sure Mallory can spend as much time with her Gaga as possible. Last night we were all in the living room when Rick pulled up after work. Mallory went screeching to the front door and giggling and saying “Hi Gaga!” over & over again. It just melts my heart to see her love her daddy so much.

I am getting sad about her growing up so fast. There are nights I bring her up to bed with me after she’s fallen asleep, just because I want to stare at her and hold her little hand and try to memorize every single thing I can about her when she is still my little baby. Rick & I are hoping that we can have another baby, but if it doesn’t happen I want to remember as much as I can about Mallory being little. I don’t miss all the sleep deprivation but I do miss the cuddling (and immobility!) from when she was little.

My favorite things about her being 20-mos:

  • the “Hi Mama!” when she sees me
  • the “nooooooooooooooo” with a head shake is starting
  • starting to say “Mommy”
  • Rick saying all the letters of the alphabet and Mallory repeating them after him, one by one. Some are harder than others but she gets most of them. Our favorite is “duddle-U”.
  • Being such a great listener. Sure – she pretends to not remember you asking her NOT to stand on her kitchen chair, but if we are in the yard and I have to get the mail across the street and she starts to follow me, I can ask her to wait in our yard and she will (our neighbors were impressed!).
  • Last night we were going for a boat ride but Rick stopped to talk to our hillbilly neighbors. Mallory waited with me for a few minutes before she started yelling “GAGA!!!!!!! GO GAGA!!!!!!!!!” – I’m sure you could hear her in Texas.
  • She imitates everything – in the morning, when I’m putting on face cream – she wants some too. Then she takes the deodorant and pretends to put that on under her arms. I am probably creating a monster but it is too darn cute to not encourage her girlish side.
  • She doesn’t want me to hold her hand when we leave daycare. She wants to go up & down the steps all by herself but she wants me right on the step next to her but no hand-holding.
  • Giving her an apple and letting her eat the entire thing (it takes her about 3-miles to eat an apple…perfect for the 3-mile loop at the Metro Park!).
  • Also last night, Rick took Mallory into her room to read a book. Rick must have been dawdling because Mallory pointed to the rocker and said Gaga so that Rick would sit down and get on with the book reading. So bossy – just like her mama! :-)

Ok, time for work. Later.
