Almost in Trouble

From the minute I picked her up from daycare yesterday, I was prepping Mallory for the fact that she was going to sleep in her OWN bed. I don’t mind letting her sleep in our bed as a treat but the night before last (Monday night) she ended up in our bed all night and I got zero sleep.

So, whenever I’d tell her “you are going to sleep in your own bed tonight!”, Mallory would reply, “mmmooooo”, while shaking her head, “mommy bee-bee (which I am guessing means bed)”.

Well, when it was time to put Mallory down, she protested for about 90 minutes, with some loud shrieking and yelling for Mommy. I was *thisclose* to giving in and letting her fall asleep in our bed but I ended up rocking her to sleep and she stayed in her crib all night long.

I was fully prepared for another battle tonight. But as adaptable as she is – she went right down in her crib with no fuss. Yes, I know how lucky we are. And lucky for me because now Rick won’t kick my ass for creating a situation where she is in our bed every night.

But I still maintain that when he travels this fall – it will be a girls-only sleepover in the big kid bed upstairs. What dad doesn’t know won’t hurt him, right?

Took Cooper for a walk down the street tonight. I let Mallory have a bunch of dog treats on her tray so she kept trying to get Buhbuh to come near enough to give a treat to him. So I was trying to teach her “Cooper, come!” but instead she was saying “Buhbuh, GO!”.

Add a new word to the Mallorian dictionary – “nigh-nigh” – night-night = 21 mos

We have to call Daddy before we read a book and she will tell him nigh-nigh and give him a kiss and a hug through the phone. Then she wants to call Gigi but if Gigi isn’t home then we have to call Grandpa (which I think is “bah-bah” – still waiting for more consistent usage before I claim it as a new word).

One last story ~ about the two cutest 21-month olds girls I know.

The girls were giving each other the standard good-bye hugs today (you know, the five good-bye hugs they give each other every day). As we were *finally* ready to walk through the gate, Mallory turned towards Alli and tilted her head. Alli tilted her head the other way and leaned in for a kiss. Oh.My.God. It was so funny. It was like a scene out of a soap opera. I mean, it wasn’t like a super-long-make-out kiss, but it almost looked scripted how they each tilted their heads the opposite way.

This again begs the question – WHY don’t I carry my camera with me every single day?
