Rick had some yard work to do in the lot across the street from our house and Mallory insisted on helping. She dragged the shovel across the street for Gaga and then gathered up bunch of wood for him too.

New word as of today: “bow-boat” = sailboat. Our lake has sailboat races almost every night of the week and there was a big one this afternoon and Mallory was pointing out all the bow-boats to us on our afternoon boat ride.

One of Rick’s friends is in town visiting from China, where he has been living for over a year, so the Fish & Hens got together for a little BBQ (and then the Fish went out and closed down some bars in town that they were way too old to be in).
While at the BBQ, Mallory got to play with some of the other Fish kids, that is when she wasn’t glued to my leg. She & Kaylie were eating corn on the cob and Mallory hadn’t figured out how to eat it from the side, she was trying to gnaw on the end of the cob. Kaylie kept taking it from Mallory’s hands and turning it sideways so she could actually eat the corn. Then as it got dark, the two girls were trying to catch fireflies, it was so cute.

Football starts tomorrow. Wish me luck.
