Fall is coming

Wow – fall is coming FAST. I seem to forget that this happens every year. The days getting shorter, the needing a coat or a sweater in the morning, the fact that we aren’t obsessed with mowing our lawn weekly because it’s going to snow soon anyway so who cares?

I am sitting on the couch with a fabulous semi-warm & semi-cool breeze coming in the front door. There are still boats out on the lake and why wouldn’t they be, it’s still in the 70s. But I guess I still think of football season meaning the end of summer.

Mallory’s new favorite word, or rather new favorite phrase is “No Mommy”. It seems I already embarrass her or something because I am not allowed to try to be silly and wear her hat or clap along with “Let’s Go Blue” on the ipod in the car. Those are just two examples of when she tells me to knock it off. She also likes to say no to almost EVERYTHING else. I am not convinced yet that it’s just that she likes saying the word because she still says “des” occasionally but most of the time it’s NO. The joys of an almost two-year old.

I have been brushing up on my Love & Logic lately to deal with these tantrums and moods. Tonight she wanted to vacuum with me and wouldn’t put away one of her toys (that was in my way of vacuuming). I told her that I was sad that she wanted to vacuum, but that she had to put her toy away first, and I took her vacuum away. She stomped her feet and got angry but when she saw that I was going about my business, she went and put the toy away and promptly got her vacuum back. I’m sure in Love & Logic they would say that I shouldn’t have let her have her vacuum back so quickly but she did what I asked her to do, so I figured it worked properly? I’ll keep you posted on how my Love & Logic-ing goes.

We are gearing up for Saturday. Mallory got a new pink Michigan shirt and I have to figure out what I’m going to wear. I don’t really look pregnant yet but I am definitely bigger so the shirts I wore last year might make me look fat. I am a tad bit superstitious when it comes to my football so I am a little nervous about how I’m going to keep up my clothing traditions throughout a football season as I progress from 10 weeks pregnant to 22 weeks (and more if you count the bowl game). These are the things that I think about.

And I leave you with a final video. Enjoy.
