Michigan v Utah – recap

IMG_1431The tailgate started at 10a for the 3.30p kickoff. We got home at 9p. Holy long day.

My 7-yr old nephew was going to come with my dad but turns out Shane didn’t want to come, so my 3-yr old niece came instead (which then made Shane decide he DID want to come – oops). I think my mom & I were thinking my dad was a little nuts to invite Lauren. But turns out my dad wasn’t so dumb – I wonder if he knew that Lauren was going to want to sit with Mallory the whole game?

The girls were FABULOUS all day – not one fight. Just a couple of squabbles because they each wanted the pompom with the stick and not the little handle (really? who cares? what is the difference??)

I ended up having to watch most of the game on the jumbotron from my seat because most of the time both girls were standing on the seat between my mom & me and we had to make sure they didn’t fall. Everyone around us was so great and patient with all the activity – I think it helped that the girls were so adorable.

Lauren was hysterical – I taught her to say “cheaters!” every time Utah got a penalty. And whatever I would yell (”Come on BIG BLUE!” or “GO DEFENSE!”) she would repeat after me, and she would occasionally throw in her own “GO BOO MICHIGAN!”

Mallory ended up not taking a nap until 5pm (OMG – that’s like 5-7 hours PAST the time she usually takes a nap) and thanks to my inability to leave her boogers alone, I woke her up 30 minutes later with a sharp fingernail to the nostril. Not one of my prouder moments. But Mallory rallied like a rockstar and was no worse for the wear – even though we didn’t get home until 9p and still had to shower. She slept until 8.13a this morning but then only took a one hour nap (not long enough for me) so here’s hoping that she’ll sleep like normal tonight and we can get back on track tomorrow.

IMG_1434 Thank goodness Mallory isn’t on Weight Watchers because if I had to try to journal everything she ate yesterday, I’d be in trouble. Pancakes at home with some blueberries for breakfast, some pretzel & peanut butter sandwich thingies at 9am, and then between 10.30a & 1.30p: some fried chicken, an apple, a cookie at noon, some fruit & more fruit, some more pretzel things. Leave for the game at 1.30p and when we got to our seats she had some cheerios & goldfish, then Rick stopped by and gave her a hot dog, then another apple, half a bag of kettle corn, a piece of pizza, more cheerios & goldfish. After the game some more fruit, another cookie, and who knows what else she snuck off the table.

She normally doesn’t poop until around dinner time but today she had a disgustingly huge poop at 10a this morning. Like HUGE. She has had some pretty gross voids in her short career but this one was really gross. Rick was lucky to be at work.

Anyway – here are some pictures from the day:

* * *

Rick had a long day at work again today (yes, he works Sundays and this year Sundays are 12+ hour days). Mallory & I ran some errands and then went for a quick boat ride out to the sandbar. She did lots of jumping and it was fun to just hang out. She was so cute when I told her we were going to go swimming. She went & got her suit from our bathroom and brought it to me and said “My! Mama!” and then she went and got the top & bottom to my suit for me without me even asking and said “Ee go Mama!”. She was so proud of herself.

I am exhausted from yesterday and Mallory’s one hour nap today wasn’t enough – it didn’t help that our laptop has been acting up and I finally decided to reformat it and start over again and could have used a 4 hour nap from Mallory to cover my computer work time plus time for me to take a nap.
