Our little pish

Another little posting drought. So sorry.

Here is a collection of short stories from the past few days.

Mallory can finally stand up (with her head above water) at the sandbar on our lake. We went out yesterday with my sister’s kids and she wanted her boat coat off so off it came and I was surprised to see that she could touch. She had SO.MUCH.FUN. jumping around with Shane & Lauren. We went back out later when Rick got home and she showed off her new “pish” (that’s fish in Mallorian) skills. She got braver and actually ended up underwater a couple times. It was a little freaky to see her with her eyes wide open under the water but each time we pulled her out she sputtered very briefly and went back to jumping around.

It was so nice to just watch her play at the sandbar instead of having to hold her the whole time and have her be trying to climb up me (or rather climb up Rick since I don’t normally go in the water). Yesterday was the first time I took the boat out all by myself in two years and we did OK; only thing I can’t do is put the cover back on (well, I could probably do it but I don’t want to so I pretend I don’t know how). I didn’t have the camera with me but we’ll probably head out there again today so I’ll try to get some video.

Note to parents of 22-mo olds: while you are relaxing in the living room, discussing how nice it is that your child is playing so quietly in her playroom, this is what really is happening:

Luckily we only have washable crayons in the house so let’s hope the magic eraser can remove it.

The words are coming fast & furious lately. Now when we ask her to say a word, she will repeat it after us. This weekend’s new one was “cancake” for pancake – as in “more cancake, mama?”.

But a couple of new words that she started using on her own: “what dat?” and “move”. I am not excited about the “what dat?” as I am afraid it might be the precursor to “why?”. She has a favorite book that she likes to read in the car all the time – called The Bike Lesson. It’s a Bernstein Bear book and the dad is teaching his son how to ride a bike. She goes through every page and points out the baby and the gaga (daddy) and the mommy. But now she points to the bears and says “what dat?”

And move is when she wants Rick move from the chair next to me so she can sit next to me. That one is actually pretty funny.

Oh, and here is this week’s installment of “What did Cooper eat?”

The August 22 entry…an entire large tub of Vaseline.

When I called the vet to ask what to do about this, the lady laughed and said “we get such enjoyment out of your dog!”. Glad someone is laughing at my idiot animal.

Anyway, they said his insides will be nice & shiny, and he may puke or poop out the plastic pieces of the tub that he ate, and to beware of the diarrhea that he’ll be having. This GD dog has had the nastiest poops the past few days, they are impossible to pick up with the pooper-scooper. Last night in the middle of the night Rick heard Cooper at the door so he ran down to let him out. About five minutes after Cooper came back in, I heard him go back downstairs and Rick ran to let him out just in time for Cooper to puke up plastic Vaseline tub parts…and two of Mallory’s socks.

WHY???

Rick actually has today off so we are patiently waiting for Mallory to wake up so we can go out to the sandbar again! Stay tuned for video of the pish.
