Mallory & Alli had a surprise playdate tonight! Alli’s mom had some crazy stuff go down at work today and called with to see if we could bring Alli home with us from school for a few hours. Of course I said yes – it is almost easier having two than just one!! Plus, Rick was with me since Monday is his light day so I figured it would be a fun evening.
When we got to daycare, none of the teachers knew we were taking Alli with us (even though Alli’s mom had left a voicemail), but they didn’t even question it when we told them. I did tell them I had Alli’s carseat so that should count for something – LOL!
Alli was a little skeptical about coming with us, but Mallory kept saying “go Yaya, see Buhbuh!” (“let’s go Allison, we have to go see Cooper”). When we got outside, Mallory took off running like she normally does and she kept yelling back to Alli to run too. Allison was still moving a little slow, trying to take it all in. When we got down the steps to the parking lot, Mallory grabbed Rick’s hand with one hand and then reached out and told Alli “han, Yaya” (“hold my hand in the parking lot Alli”). We got the girls all buckled in and Mallory started a huge commentary for Alli about what was going on. “My (Mallory), Yaya, Mama, Gaga, Buhbuh!”; then she asked for her coat and the next thing we hear is “Yaya!! Where me go???” (“Alli! Where did I go?”) ~ I turned around to see Mallory playing peek-a-book with her jacket over her face and Yaya still just checking it all out. But the funniest thing is as we were pulling into our driveway and I turned around to see the girls holding hands and Mallory pointing at our house to tell Yaya that we were home.
By the time we got home, Alli had warmed up to the situation and the girls spent about 90 minutes just playing and running around. Mallory showed Alli her new big girl bed and they were being pretty good about sharing. Both girls ate a great dinner and then played some more. I found Alli’s socks in the middle of the living room floor and asked Mallory who’s they were. She told me “Yaya socks. My help off.” I asked her “you helped Alli take her socks off?” and she responded proudly “Des!!!” (“Yes!!!”).
Then we got them both in the bathtub and Mallory helped Alli get ready to have her hair washed:
And then it was off to Mallory’s room for pajama time:
Alli’s mommy showed up right after we got jammies on so the playdate was over just in time for night-night. The girls had a great time and both were sad to say goodbye. But, tomorrow is another day. We have three years to get Alli & her mom & dad to move to our town so the girls can go to kindergarten together :-)
