Here is Mallory’s super-adorable shirt (that she got to wear like three times) before:
And here it is after Cooper decided he wanted to eat some of it:
He’s such a dumb ass. This is war.

This was the view of the lake out our front door a few weeks ago –
who wouldn’t love fall in Michigan? Aren’t those colors gorgeous??

Mallory has been obsessed with bawettes lately and on Sunday Rick was the unlucky recipient of her demands. This is how she came out of her room (be sure to click on the pictures to make them bigger) – darling, eh?

I think Mallory is fired up for Halloween tomorrow – she is all about pumpkins and every time she sees one she FREAKS OUT. Tonight she was playing with her …
Mallory was acting quite contrary yesterday after school. She just wanted to go straight home, no “drocery dore”, no “singset”, no nothing. So I started to ask her what she did want.
Me: Do you want to take Cooper for a walk in your wagon?
MCB: No!
Me: Do you want to swing on your swing set?
MCB: No!
Me: Do you want to play in your tent?
MCB: No!
Me: Do you want to call Daddy?
MCB: No!
Me: Do you want to read some books?
MCB: No!
Me: Do you want to play with your babies?
MCB: No!
Me: Do you want to take a bath?
MCB: No!

In case you wondered what Rick did at away games and why he has to go two days early, here is a glimpse. I don’t think he actually makes an appearance on this video but you can get an idea of the super-hard work that goes on.
Warning – there is some foul language very briefly at the end of the video.
The beginning is the carts being wheeled into the stadium and the exchange at the end is what happens when they are testing the headsets and phones between the pressbox and the sidelines.
PS – You’ll be happy to know that …
Needed to get these down before I forget:
Yesterday when I was home sick, Rick & Mallory called me from the car shortly after they left the house. Mallory got on the phone and said “Mama…sick…couch” and when I told her I loved her, she said back “Dove you nost, mama”. It made me start to cry, she is so sweet.
Then when we were leaving daycare, she didn’t want to put her coat on (”no want it”, while crossing her arms) but we finally got her dressed and headed outside. I told her that mama still didn’t feel well so we …
I don’t know for sure that I had the most horrible heartburn ever last night. But I was rolling around in bed moaning & crying from 11p-2a, feeling like I was going to throw up in my mouth. And then I threw up in the toilet for the next five hours. Good times.
The doctor’s diagnosis over the phone is that I have a bug unrelated to pregnancy and heartburn. Blah. What does she know.
Either way, I spent today on the couch and Mallory still went to daycare (even though she told me she wanted to stay home with me on …
Allison’s 2nd birthday was a few weeks ago and we got together with her & her mommy to celebrate both Mallory & Allison’s birthdays today.
When we were shopping for Alli’s presents, I kept telling Mallory that they were for Alli’s birthday, so she talked about Yaya’s birthday for a few minutes. Then she started saying “My birthday, mama!” so I had to explain that her birthday was a few weeks away, etc. Plus, we have been working on “how old are you” and “how old will you be on your birthday” for a couple of weeks so there has been …
So the cuteness of the week comes in the form of an almost-2-year-old, blond, curly haired, sweet little cutie named Mallory.
I was sitting in the chair at Rick’s work yesterday, and Mallory came over and lifted up my shirt, and pulled down the big over-the-belly panel of my maternity pants to reveal my growing tummy.
She said “Hi baby Arlo!” and proceeded to place her cheek on my belly. Then she stood back and then leaned in and gave my belly button a kiss.
After that, she pulled up my elastic waist, and pulled down my shirt, only to repeat the process …
The fact that Rick & I met at the Cube in Ann Arbor must be in Mallory’s genes. She hasn’t watched hockey inside that rink EVER, but just recently – when we drive by it – she gets all excited and starts yelling “HOCKEY!” And then when I say, “oh, is that a hockey rink?”, she responds “Yah”, all teenage-ish sounding, like DUH MOM – that is what I just said. I think it’s cool that she gets that hockey vibe from being near a rink. Not cool enough that I want her to play hockey which would result in …
