Mommy makes rules, Daddy breaks them

Mallory likes to do little arts & craft projects with me and seeing as how I am about a year behind on my scrapbooking, I am encouraging her craftiness and give her all sorts of paper and old stickers to try to keep her occupied. One of my rules is “only on paper” with the crayons and stickers. She does pretty well with this rule for the most part but then dad was around and the rule went out the window. Look what he taught her to do with her stickers:

The phrases are coming fast & furious. Mallory is stringing together words I didn’t even know she knew – “me want some”, “my do it” and some others that escape me right now.

She is also continuing to work on her manners – just today she said “dess you, Mommy” when I sneezed. Grandpa thought it was so funny that he fake sneezed (apparently he fooled her though because she didn’t start the ah-ah-choo game with him) to get her to say it again but instead she said “’scuse you, Gampa”. That was even funnier.

We have to be really careful what we do in front of her. The days of sneaking a handful of peanuts or a cookie without her knowing are all gone. That she learned from the dog I think – it’s as though both Mallory & Cooper are on high alert whenever Rick & I are in the kitchen because they know that we might be getting food.

Plus, I need to watch how I discipline the dog in front of Mallory. Cooper was a dumbass this afternoon and I went a little overboard. The rest of the night, Mallory was saying “Buhbuh, (something) bad!”. I hope she doesn’t try to imitate what I was doing when I was yelling “COOPER – YOU ARE BAD”.

Unfortunately nothing good to report from the football game yesterday. Holy disaster.

One funny from the game is that my dad now has an idea for a new button.

[PICTURE 1980 – sct ]Back about 30 years ago, my dad made up these “Beat WhoMever” buttons, with the M in whomever as a block M (my dad is a grammar freak and is obsessed with who v whom, among others). The picture to the left is of my friend Anne and me in 1980-ish selling my dad’s Beat WhoMever buttons before a football game. Like our matching striped coats? Anyway, after yesterday’s game, my dad’s new idea is “Beat SoMebody”. He had designs today to produce a bunch of them and it would be pretty funny but only if you knew of his Beat WhoMever buttons, and since his son-in-law is employed by the team the buttons make fun of, it was decided to not mass produce them. I don’t need get in trouble again for being “part of the program” and acting inappropriately. Plus my dad has high hopes that we’ll beat PSU this weekend and then the buttons won’t be funny for the MSU game the following weekend.

[IMG 1661 PICTURE] Here is the obligatory mommy & me picture from the game yesterday. We had a fun day – Mallory was very well-behaved with no meltdowns despite only getting about a 20-minute nap. After the game we played at Gigi’s house for awhile, and then we went to go see Grandpa, who just returned from a weeklong vacation, and then we went to Deesa & Chiss’ house to watch some more football. She finally warmed up to everyone there and was running around and playing and being fun (instead of hiding her head in my shoulder and not talking like she usually does around this rowdy group). So she was going strong all day until crashing in the car at 9p when we finally headed for home. Cooper was pretty happy with the field trip too – he hadn’t seen CJ & Fenway in a couple of months.

Oh, here is one more of my cool kid stolen from Deesa’s facebook page.

Finally – tooth watch is back on in full force. I spotted the beginnings of her upper left side second molar starting to peek through.

In Baby Arlo news – I am 16 weeks pregnant now and I think I’m really starting to believe I am pregnant; I’m starting to show more (but if you didn’t know I was pg, you would just think “man, she probably shouldn’t be wearing that tight of a shirt” or something). Rick & I forgot to do my 16-week pictures Friday night so that is on our to-do list for tomorrow.
