Mallory

I’m getting a little emotionable*

Holy hormones or something but man am I about to lose it. It really hit me about an hour ago and when I looked at the clock, it was 8:10p…and Mallory was born at 8:11p so I wonder if my maternal intincts were reminding me that it was the time?

IMG_1830 Anywho, today was Mallory’s actual birthday. Since Rick wasn’t going to be home after work, we went to birthday breakfast this morning and Mallory wore her brand new birthday shirt that Allison’s mom got her (but if you asked Mals who got her the shirt, she would tell you that “Al-son” got it for her).

IMG_1832 Mallory ordered “cancakes” for breakfast and the waitress put Mallory’s “2” candle on her pancakes before bringing them to the table! She blew out the candle before we could even sing Happy Birthday to her, for the 400th time this week.

I think Mallory had a pretty good 2nd birthday week; she had three parties with cake or cupcakes and learned how to rip wrapping paper off of presents (Christmas will be fun!).

She pulled in a bunch of great gifts: clothes & books from Gigi; a coloring book & puzzle from Aunt Emy and her crew; a book, DVD, whoopie cushion and train set from Grandpa; and from us: the swingset, Fancy Nancy dress & shoes, a couple of movies and some clothes. She also got a Michigan bear from Coach Rod (it’s pretty funny to hear her say “Wich Wod” [Rich Rod] or “Coach Wod” [Coach Rod]; I’m hoping to make a trip into Rick’s work soon so she can say it Rodriguez.). I think there are still some gifts making their way north from Ohio & Florida so I’ll update this list when they arrive.

Tomorrow will mark the 20-week point of my pregnancy; I will be halfway done cooking this baby. I feel like I’m getting so big already and starting to get more uncomfortable. My right calf/ankle is starting to swell up already – at the end of my last pregnancy, it didn’t even look like my right & left ankles could be from the same person because my right was seriously about 50% bigger than my left. Apparently it’s OK for a pregnant woman’s right ankle to be swollen – if it was my left we would be having problems.

A good friend is getting married this weekend and we did a mini-bachelorette party tonight, just dinner with a bunch of us girls. I felt a little bad leaving Mallory at my sister’s on her birthday but I’m sure she had more fun there than she would have at home with boring old mom. But when my sister offered to keep her overnight, my first reaction was “HELL, YES!!!” but then the guilt kicked in again and I felt like a bad mom. My friends told me to get over it and enjoy my free night. Actually, it wasn’t night time that I was looking for a break from, it was tomorrow morning, trying to get us out of the house on time, so the good thing is that now I won’t be late for work! But the best part is that I got my dad to keep Cooper overnight so I have the whole house all to myself. I was a little spooked coming in to an empty house alone and almost wished I had the crazy dog with me.

Well, once again I am posting a completely scrambled all-over-the-place post. I thought I would be writing more about my nostalgic mood, reminiscing about what happened two years ago tonight but I can’t stay focused. And right now I am tired so I’m going to bed.

Remind me tomorrow tell you about Mallory’s boyfriend Riley, singing her ABCs and Alli bummed that Mals wasn’t at school first thing this morning.

*Who would have thought I’d quote Jessica Simpson on my blog?
