Mallory has been full of it all weekend – hardly any meltdowns and we have had a lot of fun.
Friday night Rick took us out to dinner – I suggested meeting at the Pub in town, but he said “aren’t you craving BW3s?” This from the man who NEVER EVER responds when I say I NEED a peanut buster parfait from DQ or that I NEED to have pizza, even when I try to blame it on being pregnant. So the fact that he was trying to get me to play the “craving” card just because he wanted BW3s made me laugh.
Saturday, eh, was Saturday. It was pouring rain in the morning, but chilly, and Mallory refused to wear her winter coat because it was raining out and she just HAD to wear her yellow raincoat. I have to admire her logic but I could do without the toddler stubbornness.
We made it to the tailgate but the wind & rain & falling temperatures forced us to leave before the game started. I felt like I was bailing on the team by not sitting through that weather but my dad has HDTV and a fireplace so Mallory & I watched the game there.
Today we got about three inches of snow! Mallory & I ventured out in it to run some errands and she did NOT like the snow hitting her face. Oh, and her winter coat has a new name – “snow coat”. Not sure what I’ll do when it’s freezing and there is no snow since we won’t have a coat for that.
I’ve been trying to let her play on her own a little bit more and she is pretty funny to watch. Sometimes she locks herself in her playroom and I just hear a ton of toys making a ton of noise. Other times she plays with her trainset in the living room, occasionally telling me to look at what she’s doing. Her little trainset has three little people and she is always putting them some place new so I have to keep an eye on them (my OCD-ish-ness makes it so I freak out if I can’t find pieces to her toys, and mom, yes I know that if I kept my house a lot neater I wouldn’t lose as much stuff but buzz off). This morning Mallory had all three of the pepole standing up inside the fridge of her toy kitchen. And sometimes she folds them so they are sitting and then sticks them in the way back of the couch like they are hanging out watching a movie. And somehow she must sense that I need to keep track of them because most of the time she hands them to me and then comes back and says “where people, mama?”.
Today she started this headstand-downward-facing-dog thing where she then lifts her hands off the ground. She kept telling me “WOOK AT ME, MAMA!!” and then she noticed she could see her train people through her legs so then she was saying “WOOK AT ME, PEOPLE!!”
We spent a little time today dancing to my favorite Christmas CD – Jimmy Buffet’s Christmas Island. There is a song on there that is my favorite – here it is, enjoy!
Tonight while we were eating dinner, the guy who is doing work on our house went outside – the dog proceeded to start barking and freak out (even though the guy has gone in & out of the house about 500 times today, this time must have sounded different?). Anyway, Mallory got all excited too and yelled “GAGA!”. I told her no, it wasn’t Daddy, it was just Rog (the guy working on the house).
So Mallory then yelled “BUHBUH – Gaga not here!! Just Wog!!”
Most of the work is done –the stairs to our bedroom are now enclosed; the drywall still needs to be mudded & taped and the door will go up this week. But the biggest addition is that there is a platform over our whirlpool tub so I now have a place to leave my scrapbook stuff set up full time! And the platform is hinged so I can flip it out and still take a bath!! How happy am I? I should be upstairs setting up all my stuff right now but we have someone actually coming to look at our house to rent it this week so we may have had all this work done for naught, which will be irritating but it was probably Murphy’s law or whatever – had we not done the work (in the hopes that we would rent out house), no one would ever call to rent it. At least that’s what I’m telling myself.
Of course when I called Rick to tell him someone was coming to look at the house, I told him I wasn’t sure about leaving the lake and moving. I would love to move to a bigger house but moving to a bigger house involves packing and moving and cleaning, not to mention having a bigger house to clean, and I have a hard enough time with this little house, as witnessed by all the crapola in the background of all of my pictures I post. So, we’ll see what happens on Thursday; the good news is that according to the realtor we spoke to, I don’t have to have the house as de-cluttered for a potential renter as I would for a potential buyer – and that makes the lazy pregnant lady happy :-) But nice that we are finally going to be home for Christmas and we could end up spending it packing.

One last thing – Rick & I decided that when we put Mallory down at night, we need to reinforce that she needs to stay in bed, rather than telling her over & over again that she has to go to sleep/go night-night. Tonight I put her down wide awake and gave her a book and told her that she had to stay in bed but that she could read as many books as she wanted by the light of her little aquarium thing.
An hour later – I have not heard one word or seen one peek of the cute little blond in new brown & pink pajamas. Hooray!
Ok, I am going to do some organizing upstairs now that the major construction is done. Peace out!
Oh wait, one more last thing – she has never really had a name for her bear that she has to have with her at sleep time and she has just recently started to say “paci” (she used to just do the sign for it). But in the past week, she will ask for “Paci Bear” when she is tired or feeling needy. Actually, she has a tiny lisp so it sounds more like “Pathi Bear”, which makes it that much more adorable.
