Mallory

An Early Present for me

Rick and Mallory are out running errands and going to Rick’s work so he can work out (I guess having hockey tonight isn’t enough of a workout?) so I have the house to myself with some fresh baked cookies and my favorite Christmas music (ie – NOT Jingle Bells over & over & over again). What a great Sunday – it is freezing out and there is a ton of snow – so I can’t think of anywhere I’d rather be than inside doing what I want to do!

I can’t believe it is almost the end of 2008. I was going to do a year-in-review today but I’ll save that for the actual end of the year.

We went to a fun Christmas get together last night – it was a “Cookie Decorating Party” – we got there as all the kids were decorating cookies. And since Mallory just did a bajillion cookies last weekend at Emily’s – she jumped right in and went to town. But the fun part was when the adults had their contest. We had to split up – half of each couple went to the basement to decorate a cookie and the other half stayed in the kitchen to decorate a cookie. The goal was to have the other person be able to guess which cookie you made – but you weren’t supposed to use letters or words or anything, so my plan to make a block M went out the window. But I ended up making a football with a NIK.E swoosh on it.

They brought all the cookies up from downstairs and I was panicking that I wasn’t going to be able to pick Rick’s out of the group – but then I saw the hockey stick & puck decorated cookie and knew which one he made. He also correctly guessed which one I made (even though someone else broke the rules and actually made a block M…I was really nervous that was going to throw him off). We were the only couple there who correctly guessed both ways ;-)  It was a fun idea for a party and was nice to get out. We are friends with the host/hostess but didn’t know a lot of the other people there but they all are friends with eachother so their kids all play together all the time so Mallory didn’t really play with any of the other kids there; that was a little tiring for me because she wanted to sit on my lap the whole time.

  1. LOL… I love that only you & Rick were able to match your cookies. A cute idea for a holiday party.
