I hope this finds everyone safe & happy on this holiday morning :-) Here is Mallory’s Christmas greeting:
I have to say that it has been pretty fun getting into the Christmas spirit with Mallory – from her learning Jingle Bells to us leaving cookies for Santa (and carrots for the reindeer) we’ve had a great time. The “Santa is watching, you better be good” threat didn’t quite work so well this year but we’ll start tomorrow for next Christmas…
* * *
Mallory was up at 5a (not unusual) and climbed into bed with us (also not unusual) and we all fell back asleep until about 6.30a. We had to make dad get out of bed otherwise Mallory & I were gong to go downstairs and open presents without him.
We came downstairs to all of our presents. Mallory was soooo sloooooooow opening her presents – each present took forever to open because she was ripping off the SMALLEST pieces of wrapping paper and handing each piece to me one and at a time, saying “Heee go, mommy”. She wanted to help us open our presents too, even though her presents outnumbered ours like 400 to one.
Mallory got mostly practical presents, or at least stuff we would have bought her regardless but just saved to give her for Christmas. She got some movies and some clothes and some books, but also got some LeapFrog alphabet magnet things for the frigde. There is a button on them that sings the alphabet song and Mallory sings right along with it which is pretty funny. She also got a wooden pizza party kit which so far seems to be her favorite. That and her new pink water bottle from Santa (who also brought Rick & me water bottles too) and I had to run the dishwasher only a quarter-full just so that we could wash it so she can use rightthisverysecond. And the funniest gift was from Rick – her very own pink Camelback (Rick has one that he uses when he goes biking, etc). The picture here is of Mallory with her new bracelets.
Rick & I did some fun and some practical gifts. I got him a new showerhead for our bathroom (our old one broke a few months ago and was stuck on my setting…) and a Wii Jeep game (to hopefully soften the blow that he just got rid of his Jeep this week). I got some Cricut cartridges and also a door handle for our new bedroom door. We are so romantic.
This just heard while Mallory was reading her new book to Cooper: “No tiss it, I read it to you, I turn the page.”
So right now Mallory is half-watching Finding Nemo, and half-playing with her new bracelets.
We are heading to my sister’s for my family Christmas and to have Christmas dinner.
Enjoy your loved ones – talk soon.
Cute video!
jack was also super slow with presents – at my parents house we couldn’t even get him to finish opening them because he was so into the ones he had opened. i haven’t had jackson watch any movies yet – we weren’t sure when that was normal to try – but if mallory likes them i might try a movie with him! he gets scared of a few things (this is a new development the scared stuff) does she get scared at all??? will she watch the whole thing?
