Slowly is Mallory’s new command when she is making me sing either Row, Row, Row your boat or Patty Cake. She’ll tell me “sssllllllloooooowwwwwllllllyyyyyyyyyyyyyy” so I have to sing it slowly.
She is also working on her hockey-speak. She makes a lot of words end in “ie” or “y” that aren’t supposed to (like how most hockey players have nicknames that end in “ie” or “y”: Chris Chelios = “Cheli”, Steve Yzerman = "Stevie”, etc). She says milky, juicy, and some other things that I can’t think of right now.
New song in her repertoire – “Jingle Bells…HEY” (skipping “…jingle bells, jingle all the way, oh what fun it is to ride in a one horse open sleigh…”)
We had trouble with bedtime again tonight. She was so tired that she was falling asleep sitting up but the minute she put her head down, she was wide awake again. Finally got the baby gate out to put up in her doorway. She watched me lock it into place and asked me “what doing, mama?” I told her I was putting up the gate to keep her in her room so she would go to sleep. She said “OK” and turned around and got into bed. We didn’t hear another peep and she is now asleep. The other times we’ve tried to use the baby gate, she just stands at the door and throws her paci & bear over the gate over & over again. Not sure why it worked tonight.
And last quick story – Rick is in the process of painting our bedroom and Mallory told us she wanted to paint too. I got out her fancy Crayola ColorWonder fingerpaints (that only work on the fancy ColorWonder paper). She made two paintings. When I asked her who they were for, she told me one was for Al-son (Allison) and that the other one was for Baby Arlo. What a sweet big sister she already is!!
We were planning to put up our tree tomorrow; our errands this morning took a little longer than planned and messed up the rest of the day’s schedule. Stay tuned.
Oh wait – one more cute thing. Mallory was eating goldfish on the couch for breakfast and of course Cooper was hanging out sniffing for crumbs. She actually handed him a goldfish and then he wouldn’t stop staring at her.
