I ? my family!
Mallory & I were just reviewing the pictures I took at the lake, and when this one came up, she said “buh-buh! baby! ga-ga! (which is Mallorian for Daddy)”.
The weather never got crappy like it was supposed to today but it is way hot (GOD I am getting old) and we went to dip our toes in the lake. Mallory was a little freaked out with the mud & sand getting on her feet. But soon she was wading in to her tummy – that water was COLD but she wasn’t chattering or turning blue so we …

Memorial Day weekend so far
We found a little stroller & high chair at a garage sale this weekend for Mallory’s baby. She LOVES her babies and loves being able to stroll them through the house. Yesterday morning she put her baby in the high chair and then tried to share her french toast sticks with her baby.
And then at the BBQ that started at 5p – Mallory enjoyed her first ever actual corn on the cob!

Michigan softball’s season ended yesterday. This is bittersweet for me. Had they won, Rick would be leaving tomorrow for anywhere from 5-10 …

The Only Difference
Back story – Mallory had her first taste of chocolate milk last night. I squirted a few drops of Hershey’s syrup into her sippy cup of milk and handed it to her. She took a drink, looked down at the sippy spout like “what in the HELL was that???” and then got a GINORMOUS grin on her face. And then she went to town on that frocolate milk.
I called Mallory’s 7-yr old cousin Shane to tell him that Mallory had her first chocolate milk (that kid is a choco-holic). Here is our conversation:
Me: Hey Shane – Mallory had …
Unleaded
Wahoo – Mallory’s lead level is less than 1! This is after Rick & I half-heartedly used those lead paint test kits in two spots in our house and couldn’t decide if the test color showed the right or wrong color that indicated lead in the paint (there is only new paint in our house but underneath may have been lead).
Let’s celebrate!!
#300
I realized after my last post, that my next post would be post #300. I had been agonizing for two days over what fabulous thing I was going to write about in honor of my 300th post. The pressure got to be too much, so I’m getting #300 out of the way with this non-post.
I think I’ve kept a pretty good pace…Mallory is 564 days old and I have 300 posts. That is .53 PPD (posts per day). I know I had a few pre-Mallory pregnancy posts so if you were thinking you were going to bust me by saying …
Hey buh-buh
From my babycenter.com email from this week:
Your 18-month-old: Week 3 Now that your child has mastered some key words, she’ll soon figure out (if she hasn’t already) that saying those words in a REALLY LOUD VOICE is a surefire way to get what she wants. Some toddlers can even make simple two-word sentences such as “No more” or “All done.” And, as a sign of your child’s growing self-awareness, she may start referring to herself by name: “Claire go,” for example.
Exhibit A: Get a call from Rick this morning. Apparently Mallory & Rick were outside with Cooper before they left …
An 18-mo Performance
We’ve been wanting to get all of Mallory’s “tricks” on tape for a while. She has her own style of saying/doing things right now and I never want to forget any of it. Here is a little montage of her showing off what she knows. Enjoy.

Hi Mama
My new favorite thing is when Mallory comes back from running around with Rick and finds me wherever I am…she toddles in saying “hi mama! hi mama!”
I ? it.
Brave This
Here is Mallory, completely fearless at the water fountain in Florida.
