Here is the video I promised from last night. In the beginning (when Mallory is in & out of the frame) she is going over to pretend to get baby wash and shampoo – then she goes and slaps, I mean washes, her baby’s head.
At the end of the video she is on her back kicking – this is a HUGE step. She HATES being on her back in the pool and in the tub so the fact that she was on her back without me holding her hand is a big deal.
It’s sort of a long video – over …

A Well-Rounded Weekend
I have to declare this weekend a success.
Friday night was low-key family night and Rick & I got to watch Survivor from the night before.
On Saturday Rick got a “Rick Day” – I took Mallory with me to a baby shower (where she was darling and well-behaved, I might add) and Rick got to go mountain biking. After that, Rick & our neighbor got half of the dock put in (so we are one step closer to getting our boat in the water!)
Saturday night we went to dinner at Mallory’s BFF’s house. It took the girls about 1.2 seconds to …
Three-point stance
I have pictures to go with this story but they seem mildly inappropriate so I won’t share them but take my word for it – the pictures are pretty funny.
Mallory sat down on her little potty next to me last night. She had a napkin in her hand still from dinner. She leaned forward, put her left hand on the ground, and reached around and started to wipe…her back. Then she reached under her belly and started to actually wipe as though she had gone potty.
I guess I really need to be careful what I do in front of …
Life is Good
May 2nd Miscellany
I’m home again with a sick baby today. She’s had a cough for about 5 weeks and it was way worse yesterday so I made an appointment for her today. She was coughing all through the night and this morning so I stayed home with her, and of course she isn’t coughing today. Ends up she has a low-grade fever and red tonsils but lungs are clear and ears look great…doctor thinks she has sinusitis. She took a little nap on the way home from the doctor and then went back to bed when we got home…it was cute – …
All About Me
Here is a post all about me. Since I gave up hockey after Zulu* was born due to scheduling conflicts and having to be at work so early, etc, I haven’t had anything that was just me. I missed the camaraderie of my teammates more than I missed playing hockey and mostly I missed having something to call my own. So Rick encouraged me to finally take that photography class that I’ve been talking about for, oh, about 5.5 years.
First class was last night – and it was so fun! We have a small digital point & shoot camera and …
I'll have some ranch with that
So, forget our attempts to have a de-ranched kid.
At TGI Fridays after Rick’s championship hockey game on Sunday (GO FISH!) – we cut up some cheese stick for Mallory and she started lifting herself out of her seat (leveraging herself with her feet on the footrest of the highchair) so she could reach the ranch that RB had on his plate for his wings. So we gave her the marinara for the cheese sticks and she went to town. But then when her meal came, we gave her the carrot sticks she got as a side (instead of french fries), …
Digging for gold
This is the funniest thing I’ve seen in a long time.
Enjoy.
Disclaimer – I turned around to look at her and she had both fingers up her nose. Then I had to dig in my purse for the camera and we had to get her to do it again. So this isn’t the original but merely a re-enactment. But it still makes me laugh out loud.
Mallory & Cooper at the Lake
Just a little video from this past week…watch Mallory clap her hands and try to call “buh-bah” in from the lake. This video is sort of long and most of you could probably care less, but it is pretty cute to watch.
Outwit-Outplay-Outlast
Funny story from this week. Mallory isn’t a big fan of meats as a meal – and we had steak on Wednesday. We made the mistake of giving her a piece of bread first; then when we only gave her meat and not another piece of bread she had a fit and threw her food on the floor. Rick & I discussed giving her some ranch to maybe get her to eat the meat but both of us agreed that we don’t want to turn her into one of those kids who has to have ranch to eat everything. So …
