When she is going to run and grab something to show us, she says “I be right back” and holds her hand up like a policeman.
She is good at helping with chores already – she wants to set the table every night, including getting all of us a fork and napkin.
We are trying to teach her that she has to wait for all of us to sit down before she should start eating. She is patient about 25% of the time and will actually wait for us to eat. Rick was in a hurry this morning because of his flight, so he wanted to start. Mallory told him “I wait for mommy”.
Her new favorite answer to just about any question: “Not yet”. Typically an answer for questions like “are you ready for a bath?”, “did you go poop”, etc.
She stubbed her toes tonight and came whining to me about her boo-boos. When I realized that it was her feet, I realized I wasn’t going to “tiss” them to make them better, so I asked if Cooper could maybe kiss them instead. She said yes and told Cooper “you tiss ‘em Tooper”. (This is a PERFECT example of how I have to stifle my laughter).
Even though she lets Cooper make her boo-boos better, she was sort of bossy with him today: “no touch me Tooper” and “no sit next to me Tooper”.
Another chore she likes to help with is feeding Cooper. She finally learned that he only gets one black pill (for his messed up elbows) and one scoop of food. If the food is too low in the bin, she lets us help her fill the scoop up but not until she has put the black pill in the scoop first. And then she very carefully walks into the kitchen. His food dish is usually next to his water dish but if she is feeding him, she’ll set the cup of food down, pick up the food dish and carry it across the kitchen to wherever she feels he should dine that night, and then go back and pick up the cup of food. She is now able to pour the food into his dish without spilling any. Our house rule is that Cooper has to sit outside the kitchen while we put his food in his dish so the whole time that Mallory is dilly-dallying around with his food & food dish, Cooper is drooling, just waiting for the “OK” release command. Once the dish is in the right spot and she’s filled it up, she says “K bubba, here your food. Come eat it!!” while she points at his dish. Cooper just sits there looking at either Rick or me waiting for the official “OK”. It’s funny to wait to give him the OK because then Mallory gets pi$$ed that Cooper isn’t coming to eat, and Cooper is shaking because he’s so excited about being so close to eating.
And this is probably the funniest. We were watching the Steelers-Chargers game tonight and she asked where the M was; I’m assuming it’s because there is always an M when she watches the Michigan games?
i love all her stories. jack too is always diving into his food before anyone else – (: we try to get him to wait until we pray and he says “dear jesus, i am all done praying” and then he dives into his food! it is hilarious (: by the way he is a constant ball of energy since i had lexi and now that i am home alone with them he wants my undivided attention constantly! it isn’t enough for me to be sitting next to him on the floor doing puzzles, no he says “mama do it WITH me” or “talk about it” – he won’t even let me talk on the phone while he is around anymore! he is driving me crazy one minute and then he is so sweet that i feel guilty for being annoyed the next!!! ahhh the joys of 2 kids!!! (:
