Funny story from Tuesday (not sure why I always tell you “…a funny story…” since most things I share here could start with that beginning…but whatever).
Anyway, while eating dinner on Tuesday, we gave Mallory the schedule for the rest of the night (I’d read that it’s good to let her know what to expect). So we said we were going to finish eating, and then take a bath, and then she could play with dad, and then it was night-night time.
Well, bath took a little longer than normal so we got her in her jammies and Rick read her a book and put her to bed. About five minutes later, she came out sans paci & bear. I met her outside her room and knelt down and asked her what was the matter. She said “I pway with Daddy” and she went over to Rick and told him. They played for about ten minutes with her train set and then played catch (she was trying to get him to go get his own baseball glove) and then right in the middle of playing ball, she said “I go night-night” and walked herself to her room and got into bed. I really hate to sound like I’m bragging but she is a pretty good kid. And I can brag on her since that is sort of what this blog is all about.

We had the follow-up for Mallory’s pneumonia today. Her lungs sounded GREAT and the doctor is pretty sure that since Mallory responded so well to the antibiotics, that it was a bacterial pneumonia (not viral pneumonia). We just have to go get another chest x-ray in four weeks to make sure that it is totally clearing up.
But something disturbing happened this afternoon. My sister had an appointment with our pediatrician after we did and apparently the pediatrician (who knows that we are sisters and knows that Emily is a nurse) told Emily that Mallory was *really* sick a few weeks ago. I’m glad that the doctors didn’t let on to me how serious Mallory’s condition was, but I am also a little upset that the doctors didn’t let on to me how serious Mallory’s condition was…were we big fat idiots to take her up north? The doctor gave us the OK to go, so we went, but still. I didn’t get to talk to my sister for more than a minute so I’ll find out more next time I talk to her.

Nothing new from the Arlo report. S/he is kicking me all over the place like crazy and the other morning I swear the whole bed shook when I got kicked hard. My next appointment is Monday (February 23) and I’ll get a non-stress test and see Dr B.
We are still debating on names – I have my favorites and Rick has his favorites but unfortunately we don’t really like each other’s favorites. He is OK with my girl name choice and I might be OK with his boy name choice but nothing is set yet. I refuse to have the baby and not have a name picked out but we are sort of running out of time. I am very surprised that we are almost 35 weeks and have yet to decide on names. I’m sure my friends would agree…I am guessing they are probably thinking “you are a freak of a planner so not only are we SHOCKED that you don’t know the gender, we can’t BELIEVE you don’t have names nailed down yet!”.
I have clothes washed and put away, have some size 1 diapers in the diaper drawer, picked up some Pam.pers sensitive wipes to use on Arlo’s baby bottom (no Costco wipes for my little baby), and have made room for the pack-n-play in our master bedroom. The crib still has the flower bedding on it from when Mallory used it so we’ll have to just wait and see if that works for Arlo or not. I do need to pick up some boy bedding to have on hand, just in case :-) But other than that and buying a couple swaddle blanket things from BRU (and more small diapers), I think we are all set. The swing and bouncy seat are in my mom’s basement and the infant carseat & bases are in my dad’s basement; we’ll start hauling that crap very important baby gear home in the next couple of weeks.

One picture from this week – Mallory found her old sunglasses and wants to wear them all the time. They are WAY too small for her but she is a goofball and insists on wearing them.
Yo – When I was preggers with J&A, my mom bought me two boy bedding sets because I was sure I was having two boys. Its been so long that I’ve look at them but I think its a Noah’s Ark type theme. You can have one, if interested and needed. ;-)
