Mallory

(Insert your title idea here…I am not feeling original or creative)

Mallory seems to be on the mend. Her grunting and coughing has mostly turned into VERY productive sneezes (we’re going through a LOT of kleenex!). She only woke a few times in the night and is probably spoiled by the automatic pacifier re-insertion that happens when she sleeps in our bed. LOL. She HATES HATES HATES the antibiotics she is on but is easily bribed with a cookie.

But here is our sleeping baby last night, passed out in our bed:

And, as promised – here is my 32w belly picture (I cannot show you my full picture – I looked yucky last night after having not slept the night before and no make-up, etc – so all you get is the belly shot). Notice my belly button sticking out in this week’s photo:

Some funnies from recent days:

  • Mallory hates to be told no. And since she is a pretty good kid most of the time, she isn’t told “NO” very often. But when she is told no – look out! She either throws a big fat tantrum or she announces “my go to my room”, where she knows she can cuddle with her bear & maybe her paci. We have a rule that if she’s going to cry or be grumpy, she has to be in her room so it’s pretty funny when she basically puts herself in a timeout.
  • Today was day two of us staying home from work/school. She did a pretty good job entertaining herself and at one point I heard her coming out of her playroom counting up to ten, all in order and didn’t skip any numbers. Normally she likes to skip around and just randomly says numbers so it was fun to hear her count properly.
  • She has started to tell us that things will happen “in two weeks”. So, at the grocery store this afternoon, she asked if Grandpa and Gigi were coming over today. I told her no, and she said back to me “in two weeks?”. Or if I ask her when she is going to swim class again, she will tell me “in two weeks”.
  • This she got from my dad: he asks the grandkids to give him five and when they slap his hand, he shakes it out and says “OWWW” like it hurt. The other day she said “GIVE ME FIVE” so I patted her hand. Wouldn’t you know – she shook her hand out and said “OWWWW!” Puh-lease.

Mallory slept a hundred times better last night and her grunting-breathing has stopped. She is still coughing occasionally and her new big symptom is big sneezes that produce HUGE snots. We had her follow up appointment today and while her lungs sound worse, everything else is getting better. Her oxygen level yesterday morning was only 96%, and at 4:30p yesterday it was up to 98% and today it was 99% and the doctor was really happy about that. She said her lungs could sound yucky for up to six weeks :-(  We go back in a couple of weeks to have them listen to her lungs again and at that point they’ll decide if we need to stay on some medicine for the rest of winter to keep her from getting this again. I am not looking forward to Mallory bringing all these big kid sicknesses home to the new baby. We were pretty lucky that Mallory wasn’t ever really sick her first eleven months – she had some colds but nothing serious (but then she got that virus and couldn’t walk and we had to go to the ER so maybe she was saving it up) so I’m hoping and praying that the baby will have some of Mallory’s tough immune system in the beginning.

That’s all I’ve got. I think there is some video floating around somewhere that I wanted to share (from the big snowstorm a few weeks ago) but that will have to wait for another day. Peace out!
