39w4d Baby Arlo Update

STATUS: Still pregnant.

* * *

Cooper and his impeccable timing decided to start limping yesterday so I called the vet to try to get him an appointment for today and they were totally booked. But they said I could drop him off with them for the day and they’d get to him when they could. Not really ideal seeing as how he’s already so anxious about the bags being packed by the door and the baby stuff that is invading but we didn’t have a choice. I was afraid that we wouldn’t get it taken care of and then he’d end up in worse shape and someone would have to deal with taking him to the vet for us.

So, I dropped him off at the vet at 11a this morning and then went on a shopping tour of Ann Arbor. I spent a couple of hours at the mall – I got Mallory and Baby Arlo adorable outfits at BabyGap. Mallory’s is a flip-flop shirt & hot pink pants and Arlo’s is either an awesome patchwork polo dress or a cute polo shirt with khaki pants.

If Arlo is a girl, she will also get a SUPER adorable little skirt that has a cute flamingo top to go with it.

I need to point out that it took me about 30 minutes to decide on the Baby Arlo girl outfit and about 2 seconds to grab something for a boy Baby Arlo.

Anyway, I made my way to the other end of the mall, thinking I’d hit Arbys for lunch. Only to find out that the stupid Arbys is closed? WTF? And of course I was accosted by every single kiosk sales freak. I am GINORMOUSLY pregnant and just because I can’t walk past you really fast doesn’t give you an invitation to ignore my “no, thank you, I’m all set”.

I didn’t go to a couple of the other stores I was planning to hit on my way back to where I parked my car because I had to find food RIGHT away. So, my shopping trip that was supposed to sort of get labor started with all the walking did nothing but make my back hurt. A lot.

I still had to hit BRU for some stuff for me and some stuff for a friend’s baby shower and I was still in a ton of pain waddling around that store. I could have spent a bajillion dollars in there on adorable Carter’s onesies but I was good and let my WWRS bracelet* keep my spending in check.

It was time to to get Mallory at daycare and then she & I went to retrieve Cooper from the vet. They couldn’t find anything wrong with his leg but did determine he has a double ear infection (I don’t remember asking them to check his ears…) so we got some medicine for that. His limp does seem to come and go so they think he may have just strained it somehow and we have to take it easy for the next couple of days. Works for me.

So I am at home with an insanely sore back, a kid who doesn’t want to fall asleep, a dog that is limping, and I only have like four cookies left.

Come on Arlo – we’re ready. I’m looking forward to a couple days of being waited on in the hospital.

*WWRS (What Would Rick Say) bracelet – anytime I want to buy something discretionary, I have to decide if I can justify the purchase to my husband.
