Three weeks already? Only three weeks of maternity leave left? Oh man.
Here is the Carson update:
- He was 11lbs and 22.5” inches long on Tuesday (2w5d old).
- He is staying awake for longer stretches of time. I don’t think this is a great thing just yet.
- We have yet to find a gadget that he likes – he isn’t a big fan of the swing or the bouncy seat and seems to only like to fall asleep while being held. So I have to hold him until he falls asleep and then try to transfer him to his bassinet.
- He spits up way more than Mallory ever did. We’ve been trying both mylicon drops and just recently tried Gripe Water. The gripe water seems to help more than the gas drops do. He is obviously still gaining weight so I am not that worried about the spitting up (especially because he mostly does it when I am lazy about burping him – mom of the year here, oops).
- The bumps on his head are so much better. One is gone already and the other is getting smaller everyday; I anticipate it being gone by the time we have his appointment on May 5.
- He has been sleeping pretty well at night. Rick & I have to remember that if he is super fussy in the night that it’s probably because he needs his diaper changed. After a diaper change he’ll calm right down. I guess we both forgot what it’s like to have a kid not be able to tell you “I went pee-pee, change my diaper”. ;-) We are going to start putting him to bed in his crib in Mallory’s room to get him and her used to it. Wish us all luck.
I hope to get some good pictures this weekend. Stay tuned!
6 weeks post delivery is not enough! isnt FMLA 12 weeks???
have you tried the baby slings or carriers???
lastly, ours spit up for months! she petty much just wore a bib all the time except when in bed! just how she was. i think we had to change clothes as often as she did!
Um, Jake was the spit up king. Daycare helpers called him “puke-face!” And he spit up a TON! It was great fun. ;-) Jake & Aly didn’t like the swings or bouncy seats at first either. They LOVED the boppy pillow things – not the one like a u-shape but the full pillow and the baby slings. ;-) You need to break that hold me until I sleep habit girl… ;-)
