Carson, Mallory

Funniest Kid Ever

Mallory.

Mallory, Mallory, Mallory.

While she can make me want to run screaming to the loony bin sometimes (or at least to the grocery store at 8p last night just to get some peace from two crying kids…don’t worry, Rick was home), other times she can be unbelievably hysterical.

Like this morning.

Rick was in the shower and the other three of us (Mal, Carson & I) were still in bed. Carson was starting to fuss so I told Mallory I needed to feed him but then I checked his diaper and realized he needed changed but figured I’d feed him real quick first – basically because I was feeling lazy and didn’t want to get out of bed just yet to change him.

Well, Mallory would have none of her baby brother eating breakfast in a wet diaper. She told ordered me “NO – CHANGE HIS DIAPER FIRST!” and then she jumped off the bed and grabbed me a diaper and the wipes (while giving me a running play-by-play of what she was doing). I changed Carson’s diaper on the bed and then she took the wet diaper and put it in the little baggies we use to dispose of the diapers upstairs (no diaper pail in our room).

And then she told me was going to “take it downstairs and put it outside, OK?” but when she got downstairs she realized she couldn’t open the door to the outside so she started hollering for help from me and Rick.

And then she turned back in to "Normal Morning Mallory”, wanting to do the exact opposite of whatever it is we need to do to get her ready for school. Rick is going to have a rough go of it when I’m not here to help in the morning.

But…we may have found the reason Mallory has been sort of a disaster lately. I finally took her to the doctor on Monday for her month-old cough and runny nose. Because of the pneumonia she had in February, every cough she gets makes me nervous, especially one that has lasted this long. Turns out she has another sinus infection so we are on antibiotics again. Argh. She had a rough day at school yesterday so hopefully now that we are on some meds she’ll feel lots better. It will be interesting to see if her whininess improves too – since she’s had this cough/runny nose since before Carson was born, I have been blaming her behavior on the baby but maybe it’s because she is sick. I hope it’s because she is sick.

I had Carson checked out on Monday too – he’s been congested for a couple of weeks and has a little baby cough that makes me sad. I know he’s going to get more colds and illnesses than Mallory did since he’s exposed to her daycare germs (and when he starts daycare he’ll have his own daycare germ exposure to try to fight off too) so I wanted to make sure that he didn’t have whatever Mallory had. But his lungs sounded clear too and we are just supposed to use the saline spray up his nose. Poor baby.

But the best part about his appointment is that he now weighs 11.8lbs – like almost 12lbs. OMG. Mallory was 11.75lbs at her two month appointment. Carson was 3.5 weeks on Monday…when he weighed 11.8lbs.
