Carson

Carson – one whole month

Sweet Baby Carson is already a month old. I wonder how long I’ll start his update posts with “I can’t believe he’s (so big) already!”?

The big news of this week is that poor Carson got circumcised on Friday. My sister sees many circumcision revisions at work so she got me set up with her fave urologist to do Carson’s circ. Rick came with us but didn’t come back into the room. I was in the room but couldn’t watch most of it. Carson only cried when he got the numbing shot at the beginning and then he peed twice EVERYWHERE and then he fell asleep for the rest of the procedure. If he hadn’t fallen asleep and had continued to cry, I probably would have had to leave the room. Thank goodness my favorite sister was there for moral support. We all survived and I think the hardest part will be putting on the antibiotic ointment we have to apply at every diaper change. I got sprayed TWICE yesterday during diaper changes, like I had to cover his wee-wee with my hand to prevent pee from going everywhere. That’s sort of gross. Sorry.

We are still basically schedule-less. Carson is still sleeping pretty well at night and wakes up one or two times to eat. He doesn’t really wake up screaming to eat, but I hear him fussing so I go ahead and feed him so I can get back to bed quick. It seems that almost every night there is a little stretch where he doesn’t want to go back to sleep, but Rick handles those so I don’t know how long it lasts. ;-)   Carson is still sleeping in our room in a bassinette and I am not sure when we’ll make the transition to his crib. He & Mallory will be sharing a bedroom and until we have more success with putting him down and him staying asleep, I don’t want to have him on a different floor from us. The good news is that we’ve put him in his crib a few times in the evening (before we go up to bed) and when he does wake up crying, Mallory doesn’t wake up. I guess that’s one good thing about having a small house – she is used to all the noises already so hopefully we won’t have a problem when Carson does move to his crib. My mom got him super cute sailboat bedding for his crib so he better start sleeping in there soon!

His eyes are still a dark blue – I know we have 5-ish months before they are their final color but please please PLEASE let this kid have my blue eyes. Poor Mallory only ended up with my thighs.

We’ve been taking Cooper for some walks with Carson in the baby carrier and both boys (Cooper & Carson) like the walks. Cooper has started to see the baby carrier as a sign that we are going for a walk – like how he does when he sees us reach for the leash. Great, one more thing to send my dog into a frenzy because he’s such a freak.

I still love telling people that Carson was 10lbs 8ozs at birth. It still hasn’t lost it’s shock value. LOL.

  1. Samantha I love reading about the kids. You make it sooooo real! Very cute. You have a real gift with words. Keep it coming. Judy

  2. Cute, but could you provide a grossness index so I can decide if I want to read?
